My cat was prescribed with U-100 syringes for insulin dosing and will start with 1 unit bid. When checking online, there are different sizes of syringes w different sizes of gauges. Any recommendations or tips on how to choose the right size?

Thanks in advance!

Most of us use 3/10ml, 30 or 31 gauge, 8mm insulin syringes with half unit markings (but needle length is personal preference...they also come in 1/2" which are longer than 8mm)

All these have half unit markings and are the correct syringes for U100 insulin and are available from ADW online:
UtiCare
Monoject
Carepoint
Sure Comfort
BD Ultra-Fine

They're also available at WalMart if you have one near you..Their Relion Brand 3/10ml, 3o or 31 gauge, 8mm insulin syringes all come with half unit markings and are only $12.58 for a box of 100 (although it seems a lot of WalMart employees don't realize that they DO come with half unit markings!!)

I am so happy that I found this forum!

That's how most of us here feel! It's so great to be able to learn from real people who've been dealing with this disease day in and day out....some for many years! You might love your vet, but they just don't have the experience and the time to keep up to date with the latest treatments
