I think just about everyone here can say that they have benefitted from their membership. Some of us way more than we can ever possibly repay. Don't think there's anything you can do for FDMB? Wrong! There is a way you can help, and it won't cost you any extra.

Before you go shopping online, go to the top of the page in any Forum and click on the Fundraising Page tab. Then click on Learn More About Supporting FDMB. Scroll down to Shopping Links. You will see a link to Amazon.com, as well as several more vendors. When you use these links to do your shopping, FDMB gets a small donation from that organization. It doesn't cost you any more, and you help FDMB! Isn't that easy?

With the holidays coming up, many of us are already thinking about shopping. Why not give a gift to FDMB at the same time as you buy your holiday gifts? Please use this link EVERY TIME you shop. All our kitties will benefit!

Thank you for supporting FDMB. :bighug:

Great post, Tricia!:bighug:

Another way that folks can help FDMB is by just 'staying around' and helping/supporting others on the forum.
Even if you don't feel that you have a whole lot of experience (maybe your kitty was one of the very lucky ones who went into remission quickly) you can still support others, and especially newcomers to the forum by posting 'welcome' messages or messages of support.

Yes! I joined FDMB way back in 2007 and sadly my Tom became a GA in March 2008 but I am still very much around. I leave the technical stuff to the experts but try to pitch in with the odd word of support when I can and I will continue to do so... this board is the most incredible place and I can't imagine not being a part of it.
So glad the kitties will benefit from the shopping links - what better excuse to splurge on Christmas this year...

Stupid question: I can't see the "Fundraising Page" tab at the top of any page. It's quite possible that I'm just fuzzy-brained and missing it ...

Not just an old Safari issue. The tab disappears when I log in whether I use Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox. It's visible before I log in. Is this the way it should work?

Thanks for posting this. I was doing some research last week to try to find out how to donate to FDMB and DCIN. It looks like DCIN is set up as a 501c3 and therefore allows for tax deductible donations and employer matching. I found this link which looks like it works: https://www.youcaring.com/dcin-634283. If anyone has other information, please share.

Is FDMB also a 501c3? I'm happy to use the amazon affiliate link--I do a lot of my shopping on amazon, so that's a great option to support FDMB.

I agree. I have not had a diabetic cat for several years. I am always glad to share my experience with others. I also learn new things that will be helpful I ever have another diabetic cat.

Tricia,

Thanks for posting this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the charity donations shopping thru Amazon was done via the smile.Amazon.com....not just Amazon.com...although you can link your amazon account to the smile one. I have tried finding FDMB before on the list, but never could, so I chose SHAHS...an organization that rescues kitties with hydrocephalus. I would love also to add FDMB since I spend so much at Amazon!!! Am I missing something?

Dawn, my understanding has always been that you just have to use the link on the fundraiser page for FDMB to get the benefit. It says so on that page.

The "Smile" program only gives 5% to your chosen organization

The Amazon Link HERE gives a bigger donation (20% I think)....but to DCIN, NOT FDMB

You're right Tricia.....that link is for DCIN, not the FDMB
But I don't understand how it donates to DCIN - there's nothing there about it. Does it show at checkout?

I certainly support donations to DCIN - I've sent them a lot lately myself, and I know there's a huge need, but this post is trying to encourage shopping that donates to FDMB. It doesn't look like there's going to be a calendar this year, so we need to replace the money that would have made.

Thanks, Jill. I just read that post and it hasn't be updated since early September, when she said she was going to get working on it soon. No one I had been talking to had seen that or any post about it, and it's usually closes by the end of October, so we assumed she wasn't doing one.

Deanie has graciously put the calendar together for several years now and I've never seen her back out of anything she's committed to. Perhaps her move took a bigger chunk of time than she figured.
You might want to send her a PM...

I know....it doesn't show up anywhere but Amy has posted that specific link multiple times on the Feline Diabetes Facebook group urging people to use it instead of the "Smile" option and she occasionally posts on the DCIN page how much they've made through the affiliate link so I can only assume she knows what she's talking about

Makes it hard when you can't verify anywhere that the donations are actually going through

Hi Tricia
You have to sign into your Amazon account through
https://smile.amazon.com/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20
Then you can select a charity that you want them to donate to with each purchase you make. The thing is you have to sign in thru that link. You can change which charity you want.
Hope that I'd the question you were asking? That's how to do ste to DCIN
I've never been able to figure out the link to donate to FDMB either, I just fingers cross that it is doing what it's supposed to...

I bookmarked the amazon link above (the one that gives 20%). If I use that bookmark every time will it work? I want to make sure I'm helping. It might be nice if there was an easy way to donate cash to FMDB (even if it isn't tax deductible). I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be happy to contribute something.
