Walk me through hometesting for Phoebe please phase 6"

We were just thinking if she has a high number this evening, you can shoot earlier than 5:30, then get back on track to the usual 5:30 shot over the next couple cycles. As for the dose, that's what I'm hoping @Sue and Oliver (GA) can help us with. Maybe a schedule of how much to give at what PS. She's doing great, seems to be needing less insulin. That's a good thing.

You can see the 2 units was too much for 167 because she is at an unshootable number now at amps and probably went lower during the night
as far as a dose, maybe Sue or Rachel can weigh in - one thing you need to learn about Prozinc is that it offers flexible dosing - both in amount and timing
the reason you could shoot at 4 pm tonight is to get some insulin in her earlier (if she is really high) but you could also shoot at 4:30, or 5, or 5:30 depends on your schedule and what you want to do

Gotcha! Yes she's doing incredibly well. YA is a big part of it l believe. All my family and friends have commented on how her coat looks incredible and how healthy and happy she seems.

I wish Murphy would eat Young Again - he did for awhile and it is like you said - his coat was gorgeous - then he got a bad bout of pancreatitis - developed an aversion to it and won't touch it now

Eric I agree with Sharon and Carol NO Shot this cycle. When they are lower like that and you are not going to give insulin you don't have to worry about giving high carbs to bring them up, just feed as usual and that will bring her up. Like Sharon said, she is likely to bounce from the lower number so you don't want to add to it by giving high carb food.

About shooting earlier at 4Pm: if you did it would make your next shot at 4 AM and that might not be good for you. But, if you can give it at 5PM and 5AM then you might have an opportunity to get a +2 before you leave the house if you are still home by 7 AM. Just a thought. If that doesn't work for your schedule then just keep it the same as you have been.

Eric - one of the things about Prozinc is that you can tailor the dose to the blood sugar level
You have a 180 no shoot number, right? So you really should not give insulin below that number - you will need to study her spreadsheet and lower her dose when she is in the lower preshot numbers (180-low 200s) maybe develop a sliding scale -

Hmm. You shot an hour late last night, right Eric? And the 255 wasn't food influenced. If so, I am very surprised at your 66 this morning. Even at 12 hours after last night's shot, she was still low. It looks to me like you had a very long cycle (which can be too much insulin but you've shot 2 units in that 255 range before.). I wonder if Mr. pancreas decided to help out a little last cycle? That would be good news. It is not a on/off thing. The pancreas can just "wake up" every so often. But it would be encouraging.

I think others are right on that you could shoot an hour early tonight - as long as the missed shot this am means a cycle heading into higher ranges tonight (which we assume it will).

These out of the blue lower numbers are disconcerting, but are good news. Anything heading down is good news overall.

Time for a new thread. And a new title, reflecting the progress you two have made.

Wow! What a low number this morning. It does kind of sound like Mr. P decided to come visit. That can be nerve wracking but it's a good thing!

Sorry. What's Mr.P? Sorry I'm not up on all the lingo especially when it's a nerve racking time.

It probably was food influenced since l let her free choice feed.

Hi Eric, well we knew she'd be high! You can shoot at whatever time is convenient for you. Remember you have to shoot the next shot @12 hours later. Not sure what the dose should be. Start the new thread and remember to get that ketone test.

Yes an hour late.

Hi Sharon. Sue & Oliver said time for new thread and title too reflect Phoebe's progress. What should I call it?

You can call it anything you want. I think the last one was just getting too long- we were starting a second page. Since you know all about home testing now, you can leave that part out:D

What do you recommend l shoot her at? I want to do it as soon as l can.

Starting new thread titled Phoebe's DKA Rebound. Also l'm giving her 2.0u. I don't want too wait any longer since it's scarring the heck out of me.
