Yesterday's condo

I finally managed to get 8 hours of sleep! I think I had nightmares about spreadsheets and numbers... but I feel nonetheless refreshed. At some point, Mandarin also decided to leave the pinks and reds and started the day with a much better number. I still don't get what happened last night... but it sure looks like he will get another dosecrease tonight.

On the agenda for today: I guess I will finally have to face the sad truth that my summer is officially over and start printing out syllabi, class rosters, and getting my stuff for school ready. :( It also looks like it is going to be a gorgeous day. Yesterday's storms brought some cooler temps and it's supposed to stay in the 70s today - so my dogs will get a nice walk at some point.

Sending vines to all in need and hoping that all the kitties and their beans will have a nice, uneventful Sunday.

Congratulations on your 8 hours of sleep! I'm a big fan of sleep :)
I guess your schools start earlier than the Canadian ones do; we still have two weeks until the start of school.
Have a good day Christina!

I had a nightmare that every Lev pen I opened had a leak and the insulin was draining out faster than I could draw a dose. :p:p Glad you got some sleep:) Mandarin, we're pulling on you to come down soon sweet boy. Glad Walter is behaving...for last night at least. School as back in session here a few weeks ago. The summer break is short because it's just so darn hot here. Instead they get a few 2 week breaks in the fall and spring.

Walter's pancreas is back in action. :joyful: Impressive drop for the first three hours... everyone just got their second breakfast and I will test again before I leave to let a friend's dog out.

Love the sleep report!! I also have crazy FD dreams. :nailbiting:

Looking really good Walter!

Stay out of the pinks today Mandarin!

Ug, I feel for you on the school prep. I can't believe I haven't even started. Last year at this time I was super prepared and organized. This year I am terrified of going back. Good luck getting ready! :bighug:

Luckily, I had an ambitious moment earlier in the summer and already got a head start on putting my materials online. Two of the classes that I am teaching haven't changed much, but I picked a new textbook and completely redid the syllabus for my Research Methods course. I had every intention of reading the book and developing some lesson plans over the summer... but I guess that'll happen on a week-to-week basis now. What do you teach?

....and Walter hopped back into the lagoon. I was worried enough about leaving that I gave him some MC food at +6. In hindsight, that was probably not necessary. Meanwhile, Mandarin took one sniff and was so offended that I smelled like Viejo (my friend's dog) that he decided that I wasn't allowed to test him. Sigh. Will try again shortly... but it sure didn't look like it was going to turn into an active cycle.

Nice work, Walter. Keep it going! Mandarin: come on down a floor!

8 hours of sleep! How wonderful for you. Good luck in getting your teaching materials ready. I am always amazed at how early schools in some states begin the fall semester. When I was in school (admittedly quite a few years ago!) school never started until the Wednesday after Labor Day. Now even colleges start in August or early September so that they can finish the first semester before Xmas. It used to be that colleges started at the very end of September or early October and that the first semester continued through January (after Xmas break, during which we all wrote our term papers!).

I had a weird dream that I was applying for a FaceBook account (!!!!!!!) and that I couldn't figure out how to keep my name and birthday confidential. I guess that's why I don't do FaceBook! Better to dream about leaking Lev pens!

That is so wonderful you already got a head start!

I teach Pre-K. I have my masters in elementary ed and sometimes I wish I had gotten my degree in special education instead. As the years go on, I really enjoy identifying the students with special needs and working with the families and other professionals to begin the process of an IEP. Although, sometimes the parents haven't wanted to admit there is a difference and have fought me tooth and nail. :banghead: But the ones who have listened, I have felt so wonderful in helping them out.

I hate hate hate doing things week to week, so I hope I can get more motivated! I am currently working on scheduling our field trips. We do one a month and I am always changing up a few from the previous years. Once I get those down, I can set up all my online sign ups for volunteering and mystery readers. I also chose a new math curriculum, so I need to review that and see where it fits into everything now. I have a pretty good structure for everything in place, but I wasn't as organized as I should have been when I was completing objectives last year and things are a bit scattered. So, I've just got to put things back together which just takes time. Last year I created a music curriculum and a character development curriculum, so I am excited to have those in place without too much thought.

When do you go back? I think you told me already, but my brain is a fog. Is it tomorrow?

Looking good Walter!!!:cat:

I think this might be the earliest we have ever started! They are now giving us a three-day fall break and I guess that justifies starting a week early. Not happy about it right now, but I know I will be happy to get three days off in October.

Yes, unfortunately. And I guess Walter is convinced that beans don't really need sleep before their first day of work. I almost skipped/reduced his PM shot... but I know there will be other days where I might not be able to come home during the day and I will need to be more careful. So I guess I better shoot while I am home to monitor - even if it means no sleep.

Best of luck on getting your prep work done. I don't think I would have the patience for teaching pre-K and working with little kids. I originally wanted to teach high school, but after trying it out for a year, I decided to get my Ph.D. and teach at a university instead.

Good luck tomorrow!!

Seriously, Walter?! You give mom a green PMPS number the night before going back to work?! I hope he doesn't keep you up all night. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
