After another night of very little sleep, my day started bright and early with a 3k at our local park. And you can't even imagine how relieved I was that it was only a 3k - I was convinced that I had signed up for the 5k (but they didn't allow dogs on that one). The trails were still a bit muddy from the torrential rain we got earlier in the week, but that made it even more fun for the dogs. Einstein had a blast!
Luckily, Walter is going with an uneventful cycle today (I hesitate to even call it a bounce since he is still in the blues... but maybe that's what it is). Or maybe he is just getting ready for another late night shark hunting expedition. Who knows, but I am glad that he was safe while I was out.
Mandarin is finally showing some movement. Not much, but no pinks at least and he is dropping after I give Insulin. The kittens are... well, kittens. I always laugh when they tell us to keep them calm after they get spayed. Ivy seems to think that that is a really stupid plan that most definitely doesn't apply to her. But the good news is that she is acting like nothing ever happened.
@Kathleen (Kathy) - I had never heard of the zebra parable - but that sure sounds true. I have heard some really creative diagnoses over the years... and they were almost always wrong. My Chow mix, Bear, was almost completely hairless when I first rescued him. After a few weeks on Pred, the vet did blood work and was convinced that he had Cushing's (hair loss, weight gain, crappy liver values). I wasn't so sure - after all, he was covered in fleas, underweight and had just been on tons of steroids... sure enough, two months later, he looked great and his BW was almost normal. So glad I never treated him for Cushing's.
I am sure you're right about the depot - and this was only his first drop below 50 (as a long-term diabetic, I wait until his third drop to reduce). Hopefully, he will even out a bit on 1.5 U. I don't have any super long days and can come home in between classes if he is running particularly low... if only he would let me sleep at least every other night, we would be in great shape.

Well, the depot was most certainly in play here, but you could take another reduction if you feel like you need to. Just be aware you might have to go back up to 1.5 once the depot readjusts. You do need to find a dose that you can shoot safely once you go back to work...
