Good morning
AMBG 103, no shot due to dental scheduled for today. Poor Boomer is hungry :(
He's to be at the vet in an hour.
I hate when my baby is at the vet. :(:nailbiting:

I wish we could explain to them why they can't eat and they'd understand. I took food for to the vet for Furball when she had her dental, but she wouldn't eat at the vet.

Sending lots of good dental vines! ...and I would make sure that the vet calls you with updates. I hate waiting too, but I always feel like I can finally breathe again when I get the call that my baby is awake and doing well.

Ok he's been dropped off, food left with him although I know he won't eat there. Stopped at the grocery store and picked up a jar of chicken and broth; there is still 3 g of carbs in the jar but I hopefully won't have to use it. The last time Boomer had a dental he ate as soon as he got home.
And now I wait. Lots to do but can't concentrate on anything else :nailbiting:

There's really nothing worse than sitting at home waiting and willing that phone to ring!!

Adding more good dental vines to the pile though!!

And he's home.
Bup for pain for the next 48 hours
A week's worth of antibiotics just in case
And forti flora because he had the diarrhea on the table during the procedure :cat::joyful:

He's still a bit stoned but Dr Larry said to encourage him to move around. So I've shut both bedroom doors since Boomer likes to hide under the bed after vetty visits.

I'm glad Boomer is home and didn't need extractions. Eat Boomer, just a bit though. Have you tested his BG?

Sorry about the stress poop.
I haven't tested his BG but I was tempted. Do you think I should?
I haven't been able to get him to eat anything; even right off a fork. He hasn't eaten in 12 hours now.
He just had another quite soft poop.

In Canada they usually use the anesthesia induction drug that doesn't impact BG's as much, but it would be good to see if he's trending up or down by PMPS - if you shoot.

+21.5 67
And I dug out the fancy feast chicken that he hasn't had in quite a while, warmed it very slightly, and got him to eat a forkful. Will give him some more in about half an hour.

I finally got him to eat something; I only let him eat a forkful and will give him more in about half an hour. And BG at +21.5 is 67.

Gave Boomer a wee bit more food and he did eat it :woot:
It's two hours until normal shot time. So I think I'll give him a bit more food in another half an hour and then no more until his normal shot time. I'll want him to eat his normal amount at that time if I decide to shoot.

@Doodles & Karen
My guess it's the anesthesia and wouldn't use fortaflora anytime soon. More times than not fortaflora will cause loose stools rather than help
I wouldn't say your observation about FortiFlora is accurate. Many kitties have a good response to it or other probiotics. That may not have been your experience but ECID.

Anesthesia typically slows down the gut. This is why we suggest feeding in small amounts like Judy is doing. Otherwise, you can end up with scarf and barf. It's likely that the stress of a vet visit or, if the vet administered an injection of antibiotic, that may be contributing to diarrhea.

Anesthesia can also drop numbers. Don't think twice about skipping if numbers are low and Boomer's appetite is off.

You know what you're doing Judy but unless he climbs up high personally if it were me I'd skip and start again in the morning if needed :bighug::bighug:
And that's exactly what I was thinking as well. I fed him some more about half an hour ago but unfortunately now when I test pre-shot I'm testing at a food spike. So I'm a bit hesitant to shoot. That and his appy isn't quite back to normal yet.

Glad to hear Boomer came through his dental with flying colors!!

He may still be a bit stoned to feel much like eating too.....although you'd think "stoned=munchies"....LOL

Yo Boomer!!! Da vetty didn't take no toofs?....How can you hit up da toof fairy wif no toofs to put under yer pillow?? I thinks I has a couple extra old toofs dat da toof fairy forgot to take last time....I'll send dem to you!! ~ China

He's still a bit stoned

Don't worry, it might just have liked that :) As far has he doesn't fall addicted to morphine like some did he's fine !!!

(it's sure no morphine but you got the point !).

All wishes of an easy out off buzz experience !!

Job well done !!!

BTW, Boomer is an amazing name... he must be a hell of a cat. Thinking about
