Hello! Thank you to the Feline Diabetes Facebook group for reccomending this Forum.
My family cat, Lily, was diagnosed with diabetes on Sunday. She had a 300 bg level and glucose present in her urine.
Lily is 11 1/2 years old. We took her in from a family that was giving away a litter because they were moving. Our family has never experienced a diabetic pet, so this will be our first. Currently we are still dealing with the initial shock and processing it all.
On Sunday she was given a Rx for Glargine/Lantus but we called back the Vet for alternatives due to the price. They then recommended ProZinc.
She has also been switched from kibble, which she has always eaten, to strictly pate.
Lily goes in this Thursday for her follow up consultation where we will learn her new dosage, how to inject, Curve tests, etc.
I look forward to having this Forum to ask the questions I'm sure our family will have.
I also welcome any suggested questions to ask at our follow-up appointment on Thursday.
