PMPS 296. I was surprised to see it go down a bit from two hours ago.

What do you all think? 1.5u or 2 tonight?

Because of the hypo number earlier and the HC treats...which might still be wearing off and the fact that you cannot test a lot tonight I would go with the 1.5 unit. Will you be able to get a +2 test tonight?

I would be extra cautious about testing. This happened with mt Callie. We had several of the extra low PS numbers. I started setting my cellphone to wake me up every few hours at night so I could test her and still get somr sleep. I know how scary it is when you get low unexpected numbers. You did a great job with this.

I keep my Hypo kit in a plastic shoe box. It really helps to have everything all together.

I start to panic if I have less than 400 strips on hand  With the amount of testing I do for two FD kitties I really never have to worry about them getting outdated
Mary Ann, I stock up with 300 strips at a time and I doubt mine are ever going to expire either but if you put a box in the hypo kit and never have a hypo it could happen which is why I just got into the habit of switching them out every time I get a new stockpile. That habit was developed of course before I ever saw a blue much less green number out of Menace! ;)Don't know where my head was this time with re-ordering strips though....I should have ordered strips early last week so I could pick them up before the weekend but I didn't so now I can't order them until Tuesday because of the holiday weekend. My "hypo" supply may get pilfered depending on how Menace behaves for the next couple of days. :woot:

Sad to say since I always tell people to have a hypo kit ready at all times....I do NOT have an actual hypo kit.

I always have at least 400 strips (currently 800...Shopper's Senior Day PLUS $10 off each box  ) and at least 10 cans of MC and HC wet food, as well as 2 jars of honey and 1 container of Maple Syrup. I have the number for the emergency vet ( 8 minutes from here) on my fridge. I doubt I would call my own vet in the case of a hypo since the ER..which is also a day clinic... is the closest to me. As I said I panic if my strips are under 400 and the same with the MC and HC food...once I reach 5 cans I buy 10 more.

I hang my head in shame for not having an organized hypo kit. :blackeye:

That is so easy to fix. I made Callie's up early because I wanted to be sure DH or DD would be able to handle things if I wasn't here. I included the print out of what to do if she goes Hypo with our vet's phone number on it.

I keep reading about people taking their cats to an ER vet. We don't have one closer then 45 minutes away. Luckily our local vets have an answering service and will meet us at their office any time of the day or night. In our small town, it only takes a few minutes to get anywhere. Also, my vets make house calls. With all their large animal patients, that is a necessity.
