Help with dosage

Morning

I was running low on syringes. My Vet told me to get them from my pharmacy. I am giving Oscar
ProZinc 2 units twice daily. Syringes that came with ProZinc were 100 u-40 low dose for 12 units or less 3/10 cc 29 gauge x 1/2". Pharmacy gave me 3/10 cc for 30 units or less. Can you tell me what the correct dose for 2 units would be. Original syringes were numbered different.

Yes 2.0 units with the U-40 syringe that came with the ProZinc. Now using the new syringe. Package says 3/10 cc for 30 units or less. The one I ran out of said U-40 for 12 units or less. I am confused. With the picture above 2.0 u it's would fill to 5 unit line?
 
I just want to make sure that the dose you are currently using on the U40 is actually 2 units and not 0.20 units


ETA I posted at the same time as you.

If you are currently giving 2.0 units on the U40 you would fill up to the 5.0 line on the U100
 
Thank you. Yes 2.0. I am six weeks into this so anxious and confused. I appreciate the help. I am bg testing at home too making sure he is being properly dosed. Thankful Oscar is a good patient.

That is great that you are home testing. Doing a test before each shot and if possible one in between shots, usually around 4-6 hours after the shot will help to see how the insulin is working. Using the spreadsheet also is a good way to track progress. Here is some information on setting up a spreadsheet. If you want to set one up and have any trouble just ask and someone here can help you with that:

I really like the colour coding on the spreadsheet. It makes a great visual aid.
 
Thank you. The spreadsheet will make it easier. I have a spreadsheet currently I keep to fax my vet each week. Yes home testing gives me peace. I test bg Everday pre shot before each meal, mid-day, and before I go to bed

Home-testing is so important and it sounds as if you have a good testing pattern set up. Like yourself, home-testing gives me peace of mind as well.I really like the set up for the spreadsheet. I also keep hand written notes and numbers but it just seems easier to see patterns with the numbers using the spreadsheet. You can actually e-mail the link for the spreadsheet to your vet once you have it set up.

Just so we are sure. U40 syringes have red tops; U100 syringes have orange. Usually U40 syringes are only available through the vet, not at the drug store. Please check to make sure you have U100 syringes - it should say so on the box. Here is the conversion chart so you can give U40 insulin with U100 syringes.

Yes. I checked and rechecked. :). U100. Just to be sure I looked again. Orange cap. So evening dosage with th U100 is 2.0 units = 5. I am so thankful to have you all here. I am a nervous Mom. Thank you again.
