Hi all, quick question: I picked up a bag today of frozen Stella & Chewy's Chicken Dinner Morsels to try to tempt my very picky, underweight diabetic cat. He's getting a little tired of the Fancy Feast Classics canned varieties I've been offering so I'm looking to mix it up a bit. Is anyone using this, or can tell me if it is okay for diabetic cats? The percent carbs per calories looks okay, but I'm not really sure about percent carbs on a dry matter basis. If it's not okay, is there a frozen raw alternative someone would recommend? (to throw it out there, I'm vegetarian and not up for anything homemade)

My Radar is enjoying a very gradual switch to eating some frozen raw... with the emphasis on some. At this point he is unwilling to eat very much of it but I figure it is a process so I'm not too concerned. The company that I decided to go with is Primal. They make several varieties and the carb content is good in all of them for a diabetic cat as far as I can tell. One thing that I liked right away about the company is that they have a starter pack with various flavors so you can get some idea if the cat will eat any of it before you lay out a pile of money.

I'm sure others will be along to make other suggestions from their experience.... as mine is pretty limited.

I dont know about stella and chewys. Is there veg in it? I know i considered it but something turned me off i cant remember what.

Mr b loves Radcat frozen raw. I also buy from haretoday. Very pleased.

Stella and chewys is fine
Mine won't eat the raw I break up the freeze dried and they refuse it with water :banghead:
But it s a great quality food
Natures variety pride is a decent canned and daves also pinnacle all low carb
Sheba is sometimes a hit
Weruva Mideast feast almost always works but is low calorie.
I have tons of freeze dried
I put the chicken pure bites in the vita mix and keep a little bowl out
They don't puke if vita mixed
Mine even eat some dog sella n chewys they like the beef and pheasant. :bighug:

There's pumpkin seed, but I don't think there's other veg. I'll have to look into Radcat and see if that's an option for us to try

Thanks for the ideas! I tried out the frozen raw last night and neither of my cats showed any interest! I guess I thought they'd just be naturally drawn to it, but I was definitely wrong. I'll give it another try, and maybe try another brand or two, but we haven't tried freeze dried yet... I'll add it to the list!

I had to offer Minion four different canned foods this morning to find a variety that interested him. I'm afraid we're going to run out of options soon! I've ordered some Fortiflora to see if that helps at all...

Radar prefers his meat warmed to a nice "warm mouse" temperature. He is also in love with Bonito flakes or Pure Bites chicken dust sprinkled on top. :cat::joyful:

I was afraid of that too but I keep finding new things... Have you tried just crumbling the stella and chewys? Mine seem to prefer the dog more than the cat!:bighug:

I've used their freeze dried food. Max really likes it but with stage 4 kidney disease it's a piece treat after fluids. It was recommended to me by a vet I trust.
