Yesterday's Vetty Visit

I'm liking this PS much better than the last one! Hopefully that was just the stress of the afternoon at UCD and the exciting car ride home.

Appy is not great this morning. Harvey came up to get a drink when I first got up, and I could tell he wasn't feeling well. He proceeded to throw up some liquid. :blackeye: Then he drank some water and got some loving. When I came downstairs, I found he had only eaten a few bites of his t/f/s meal, and he did likewise with breakfast. I offered a second flavor and he ate a few bites more. I gave him some Ond & Cypro and am just waiting for it to kick in. Leukeran last night. I went through the past few weeks again, and probably 75% of the times he's thrown up have been on the morning following a Leukeran dose. The inappetance isn't as obviously affiliated, but I'm starting to think we ought to consider pulse dosing.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug:

Extra vines, prayers and hugs are going to Elise & her DM and to Amy & her DF. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I vote for vetty and car ride stress and the best thing is that's over. Pretty good report all and all yesterday! Have you thought about adding b-12 capsules into the mix? Looking good Harvey and hope your tummy is better soon.

@Doodles & Karen if you're talking about cyanocobalamin, the oncologist ran a test for his b-12 level yesterday and should call this afternoon with results. If you're talking about methylcobalamin, I don't think he has a need for that. There is no evidence that his back leg issues are neuropathy. He's already getting so many pills now that I hate to add one unless I'm sure it will help (I have to pill him with his L-lysine and Cosequin, as he will NOT eat it in food).

The tummy meds kicked in and he's had a couple of servings of food. :)

That's the one I was talking about and yes we gave it to Doodles for 5 months until the neuropathy went away. Sometimes it helps with appy and overall immune support too but you have that under control. I totally understand not adding anything to the mix unless there is a benefit.

Know that all too well!! Glad he's eating better now :)

I gave it to Cinco from shortly after diagnosis to the end of his life. He had neuropathy really bad, and it did the trick. He did have some permanent damage, but overall he recovered pretty much. I have some left, and if I thought it would help, I'd try it, but I really don't think that's his problem.

Praying Harvey's tummy is better and he is able to keep eating and you can figure out whats causing it.:bighug::cat:

I give ondancetron as a nausea preventative, about 2-3 hours before giving Leukeran. The onda is supposed to bind to the nausea receptors, preventing the Leukeran from getting to them. There is an element of ECID. Theo gets pulsed dosing - in his case 3 Leukeran and I didn't give onda the first couple of pulsed doses he got, and he still had appy. But he seemed a bit withdrawn. Now that he gets onda before hand, the last couple of pulses seemed to have no after affects. (anijinx) But I really like the fact that any potential nausea is limited to just a couple of days per two weeks.

Nice to see Harvey back in business. :D

Thanks, Wendy. That sounds like a good idea. I'm going to wait another week or so and then if we want to go ahead, e-mail Dr. Burton for her instructions.

The B-12 test came back normal, so that isn't the cause of his dander. They didn't feel he was dehydrated, but maybe he isn't getting enough water - he doesn't drink like a fish anymore. I do add water to his food and he gets a couple of mls to chase his pills. He is pretty much drinking exclusively from that silly little dish on the bathroom counter (despite two fountains and two other water dispensers in the house).
 I suppose I could try the fish oil again.

He ate about 2/3 of a can of Friskies today, and he's just now chowing down on his dinner with enthusiasm. :) I'm pleased with his AMPS, too. Interesting that he came down from his +8, but not unusual for him.
