Hi everyone, you were all so helpful when Huey first got diagnosed with diabetes and we found a new vet and he has been doing well. However, on 7/2 he became lethargic and fur was getting "greasy"(BG level of 93), on 7/3 BG level jumped to 156. he had 2 episodes of instability (wobbly - not a full seisure) in the evening. My husband had stopped giving Huey his insulin on 7/3. On 7/4 his BG level his BG level tested 156 (again? That seems odd) in the am and 149 in the pm. Today in the am (7/5) his "BC level is 138. That's the background - the crisis is today he is making those dreadful meow noises indicating something is wrong both when in the litter box (with nothing in there), in his "go-to" spot when sick trying to deficate (or urinate - don't know which) and when hanging out by the water dish (his happy spot). Vet doesn't open till 1:00 - hubby is resistive to going . Any ideas?? Help!!

His diabetic levels sound okay, especially if he is stressed in the litter box.. I would definitely go to the vet. It sounds like he can't urinate. This is very dangerous and fairly common, especially in male cats. On Dr. Lisa's page, there are symptoms, treatment and the urgency in getting UTIs treated.

Thanks - that was my thought. With Huey we have been down the UTI road before along with our other male cat who needed hospitalization. I love my boys, but my female cats (2 - Sophia and Sarah) have never had any medical issues. If I ever get more cats - they will be females (LOL) - Thanks again - hopefully we caught this early. To the vet we go.
