Yesterday

Ho hum. Another day, another lovely cycle. :) I'm so enjoying these numbers! Harvey seems to be so flat and safe and just where I want him. Of course, I'd love for him to earn another reduction, but I'm not going to be greedy and just enjoy this, however long it lasts!

Appy was pretty decent today - good enough to skip tummy meds. It took him a while to eat all his fuds, but he did it. It's still pretty warm outside, and I had the A/C on all day. I do think that slows down his appy. So far he's eaten half his dinner.

Not much else to report. Got a lot of cleaning to do tomorrow - we invited our friends over for ribs and cards Saturday night, and to watch the race. It's a lot of work to have people over, but it's so night to be the ones that don't have to drive home late at night for once!

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Extras for Bubba, Trixie and Amy's DF.

Have you ever thought of giving just the nausea meds every day to see what happens? You might not need an appy stimulant ever. Just a thought.

I would do it twice a day. It doesn't last that long. That is what I do for Max when he needs it. If it helps it can even be given 3 times a day. If he eats well every day you will have your answer. Do you think the appy changes on the days he gets leukeran?

Harvey is looking handsome in blue tonight:cool:! Maybe he will put on his green swimming shorts tonight? Appy vines and hopes that the tummy meds experiment will work:).

Have a great time with your company on Saturday! It is kind of nice to not worry about driving etc. Just the cleanup the next day:p.

All in all, those are pretty darn nice numbers....especially if you have things you need to do other than sit around and poke the cat!!

You think you could get Harvey to go down to the edge of the lagoon and call China in a bit??....or maybe paddle out a little and drag her in??

.or maybe paddle out a little and drag her in??
Done! At least, the paddle out a little part....:D

Just the cleanup the next day
Ahh, Rachel, you know me too well. "Cleanup next day" is my mantra! :p

Do you think the appy changes on the days he gets leukeran?
Wendy asked me that a week or so ago, and after looking over the SS, I would say no. I did give him 2mg of Ondansetron tonight, even though he ate all his dinner. He's still working on the rest of the can.

I dream of such consistency. :D:cool:

Out of curiosity, when do you give the ondasetron compared to the Leukeran? My understanding is the ondasetron needs some lead time to work, but of course that time is ECID.

when do you give the ondasetron compared to the Leukeran?
I've been giving it mostly in the morning, usually between 10:00 am and noon. When I give it at night, it's usually in the same time frame - 10 to 12. I give the Leukeran at night - usually between 9 and 11 pm. As I told you last week, I can't make any connection between the Leukeran and Harvey's inappetance.

As Elise stated above, ondasetron doesn't last that long. I've been tinkering with how long before Leukeran to give it to Neko, and it's currently around 3-4 hours before hand, though I have done longer. I also don't think that the nausea from chemo happens a set number of hours later, but rather in waves. Too many moving parts to see the patterns. Neko's IM vet said most of his Leukeran patients getting it every other day don't get nausea so most aren't on an anti nausea med. Anyway, it's just a work in progress here and I was wondering what others were doing.

@Wendy&Neko, I tend to connect Harvey's nausea and inappetance more to his pancreatitis and lymphoma than to the Leukeran. Because of that, I've never tried to time the Ondansetron in relation to Leukeran.
If the lymphoma is controlled which with Harvey I think it is, I don't think that is causing the nausea. It's either pancreatitis or the leukeran. Leukeran is known to cause nausea and inappetence occurs. That is why pulse dosing is often used. Supposedly they are only nauseous a few days every two weeks that way.

Wendy, ondansetron usually works for Max in about 45 minutes. According to Dr. Jory is only lasts a couple of hours.

Ondansetron takes about 45-60 minutes to work for Harvey, too. The injection works faster, maybe 20 minutes.
It's either pancreatitis or the leukeran. Leukeran is known to cause nausea and inappetence occurs.
The thing is, his episodes of inappetance don't always coincide with a Leukeran dose. For instance, he got it last night and this morning he ate fine.

I think it's a combo of pancreatitis and the medication. If it's pancreatitis only then consistent dosing of ondansetron should help. JMHO.

Nice cycle there Harvey! Hey, the lagoon is full of friends to kick off the 4th of July weekend. Thanks for the vines, they are so appreciated. :bighug::bighug:
