Yesterday

Harvey had a bad day today. He didn't eat more than a bite or two of his t/f/s meal and refused his breakfast. I offered a second option and he had a few bites then walked away, so I gave him his meds, including some Ond & Cypro. Not even five minutes later he threw it all up!! I gave him an injection of Ondansetron (2mg). I left out some food and told Mark to test in 45 minutes, then went off to meet Dyana (45 minutes late).

While I was gone, Mark tested at +6 () and gave him some food from another can. He ate a little, but not much. I got home just before PMPS. Harvey did not want his dinner. :( I offered another flavor. No sale. I offered baby food. He licked his lips. It was too soon for more Ondansetron, so I gave him some Cerenia. Half an hour later, he threw up clear, thick liquid, but I did not see the Cerenia. About an hour after that, I offered another flavor of food and he finally ate something! :) At his last Oncology appointment on April 14th, Dr. Burton said to bring him back in 1-3 months, depending on how he was doing. I was shooting for 3 months, but I think I might call tomorrow for an appointment, which will probably be a week or two short of my goal. I just would feel better if he had a once-over, after his lousy day today.

Sooo, despite my being 45 minutes late, I met Dyana and we had lunch together, and then we went to her parents' house and chatted. And chatted. It was so fun!! The afternoon just flew by. I had to stop at Costco and the grocery store on the way home and just made it in time for t/f/s.

Harvey is now snoozing on the chair behind me (cat - 75%, bean - 25%). Before he had his nap, he was on the chair next to me at the table (his usual spot), and he looked much perkier than earlier today. I was poised to haul him to the vet tomorrow, but I think now I can wait to see when we can get him in to see the oncologist.

Our hearts are heavy with the crossing of Rover. Thoughts and prayers go out to @Red.

Sending healing vine to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :bighug:

Hopefully it was just a bad appy kind of day for Harvey....He has them every now and then, but I know your first thought is worry.

Let's hope that tomorrow morning he'll have his hoover back and he'll eat you out of house and home!!

His numbers are looking pretty darn good!!

Looks like he's on his way out to China so they can spend some time paddling around tonight....together as usual!! Wonder what kind of trouble they're planning on getting into?

I hope he's feeling better and it continues. Do you wait to see how he feels before giving tge nausea meds? Have you ever considered pulse dosing of leukeran which is a bigger dose every two weeks? It's supposed to be easier on them and the newer way of dosing.

95% of the time, yes. I give him the opportunity to eat on his own, and if he refuses a couple of different flavors over a half hour to an hour, I give him the meds. Today, because I had to leave and he wasn't eating, I gave the meds right away (and he promptly gave them back ). I'm so glad I have the injectable Ondansetron on hand from when Minka needed help occasionally! I don't think I could have left him if I hadn't had that available to use.

Harvey's visit to the lagoon tonight was brief. Guess he just needed to check up on China and make sure she wasn't surfing with somebody else!

BTW, Dyana made some yummy oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies and sent me home with a supply. Not very diet-friendly, but irresistible!!

I'm sorry Harvey had a rough day. I hope he feels better soon and eats better for you. Sending prayers.

Nice that you were able to meet Dyana and have a good visit. The cookies sound yummy.
