? Ongoing Diarrhea

My kitty Mr. Black is doing great with his diabetes and has been OTJ for over 2 months. He's lost nearly 2 pounds which he really needed to do, and is more active and frisky. For some reason, he's had diarrhea for a few weeks now, and I don't know why. I'm feeding him FF Classic canned, with bonito flakes and freeze dried treats. He gets nothing else, except I've tried giving him pure canned pumpkin for fiber with his food for his diarrhea. This has not helped and neither did a homeopathic treatment for diarrhea that I bought at Petco. I'm planning on taking him to the vet tomorrow if they can get us in quickly. Anyway, has anyone else had this problem with their kitty where the poop just will not get normal?

You can try a pinch of unflavored psyllium husk. No appreciable carbs and it might at least slow it down if not stop it completely. If you switched abruptly to FF Classic it could be the switch in food that caused it. However, it could just be a reaction to a specific flavor.

I have not had this with a diabetic cat but I have had this problem and florastor helps 1 of them like a miracle--(although this is a ongoing thing and he is a older kitty.... the florastor keeps his poop much better than without it. Slippery Elm is great too but I cannot get enough in him to be effective)
I have also used a homeopathic from a homeopathic vet that is specific to the cat and stronger than a OTC-
I hope the vet can give you an answer

I would try switching the canned food to something else in case Mr Black is allergic to something in the food. I would also try withholding the treats one at a time to see if that makes a difference. My cat Sheba had really bad diarrhoea for ages and nothing I or the vet did stopped it. I changed her canned food and she immediately stopped getting the diarrhoea. I have never gone back to that food and she has been fine ever since. I feed her raw diet now.

Smell is not worse, in fact it's not as strong as a normal stool. Color is brown.

So, what's even more confusing now is that I found out one of my other cats has loose stools (since this morning). Could it be the food had been spoiled before I bought it? The case of FF Chicken Feast I bought maybe is spoiled from the summer heat while sitting in a warehouse too long. I can picture this as a possibility before being placed on the store shelf. Does this carelessness happen very often?

That should not be a cause since ance canned the canned food is subjected to high temps to pasteurize it. However, if the can is bulging or smell off after oping then discard it sine there is likely a problem with that can

Fecal sample for Mr. Black turned out negative. And, just when I think he's bulking up finally, he's uncomfortable again with diarrhea, like this morning. My other 2 cats have had it recently too but are better now - so weird! I even thought a possibility could be our well water - I'd been giving the cats half well water with half bottled water. Only bottled water for a week now - no difference. I've been doing some major cleaning around the house - today it's carpet shampooing. Will go out later and buy some psyllium husk to try - will see if Petco or PetSmart has it. Does anyone know?

You should be able to find plain psyllium husk in a health food store or the health food section at a grocery store. I bought the psyllium husk powder as I figured it would be less noticeable when mixed into food than the whole psyllium husks.
