Hi!
I am looking for experiences with mirtz as a appetite stimulate.

I normally use cypro and it works great but I am going our of town for a few days and my sitter will not be able to pill my non diabetic cat.
Since Mirtz is supposed to work for 3 days.... I have read some crazy side effects.
Does anyone use this regularly ?
Thank you:bighug:

Mai Tai was just prescribed that for a week...she had two doses in that period of time and it made her nuts...pacing, crying at herself in the full length mirror (she was NEVER vocal)....just could not settle down for a full day. It did help get her to eat again for awhile. Wendy (@Wendy&Neko ) told me about possible side effects in some cats as I had never used it before.

I've been giving Mirtazapine to Radar for about 10 days now. He has not had any side effects. It does help him to eat better but I'm not sure that the 1/4 tablet he gets every three days lasts that long for him. It seems to have its strongest power the first 2 days and then wears off.

I hope your trial run today goes well so you can turn your attention to getting ready for some R and R away from home. :joyful:

Thanks Jan !
I gave him a tiny bit and about an hour after he got up and ate.
I am not home but I will be in a few hours.
It didn't seem to make him nutty at least the early stage. I think he will be ok with it.
And he won't be depressed ;)

Hi Dawn
I have been reading about the possible effects. I am kind of stuck because sitter can't pill him.
So far he is ok but I only gave a tiny bit.
Fingers crossed !
He does great with cypro but that only lasts a day. :bighug:

Perfect example if ECID
what works beautifully for one kitty causes all kinds of trouble for another.
Good thing on the forums there is a lot of different experiences with meds and how to treat our kitties ;)
