Just a quick question.

I was just at Kroger and they had a bunch of Fancy Feast on clearance, yay!

But they also had a case (18 - 3oz cans) of Iams Purrfect Delights for $2.50! I snatched it up, thinking I could just give it to my civies or donate it if it's not low carb.

I used the Schnyder Calculator and it came out as a negative number, which in the instructions, indicates low carb?

I've never used a carb calulator so I want to make sure I'm doing it right. It's flaked, not pate.

Crude Protein, min. 10.0%
Crude Fat, minimum 3.0%
Crude Fiber, max. 3.0%
Moisture, max 83.0%
Ash, max 3.5%
Taurine, min 0.05%

Thanks in advance!

Per the web site

"It just means it’s a very low-carbohydrate food, but we can’t tell how low because of the rough percentages of nutrients provided on the label."

Good catch on the Iams! I think it may be high in phosphorus, though, so probably best used sparingly. :):):)
Yes of course! I don't give them fish much, more or less if they're being picky to keep it in rotation.

So were my calculations correct? I know you're constantly on the lookout for new foods and probably have more experience using the calculator than me :P

Yes, your calculations were spot-on, as far as they went! There's another little bit of math to do at the end when you use the Scheyderweb calculator (I have to look it up every time, lol) but that food is very , very low carb.

fancy feast classic is high in phosphorus to i think

which iams variety is it? does it say sauce or flaked etc?
FF Classic has moderately high carbs, probably wouldn't want to feed a steady diet of it to a cat with kidney issues, thta's true.
She said the food was Iams Purrfect Delights, flaked.
