When is it time to try a different insulin?

its been 7 months of lantus and my cat still isnt happy. Even when we have good fructosamine 'good control', he still drinks and pees a lot and has never returned to his old happy self except for brief windows here and there. Hardly purrs anymore.

Often i've wondered if its just not the right insulin for him.

Thoughts?

I agree. Are you using a vial or pen of Lantus? If a vial, when did you open it?

Updated ss just now. Got a furshot last night. Didnt seem to affect todays readings. Significant?

He had inpt stay 3 or so wks ago with borderline low fructosamine. He had been on much higher dose. Got convenia injection. Vet thinks was on too much insulin.

Glucose in urine, i just checked now for the heck of it.

So i was wondering if maybe this isnt the best insulin for him.
