Hi everyone.

Silvester is 6.9kg(15.2lb), I feed him 3- 3.5 cans of FF chicken. That is 273 calories more or less. He is not overweight, and I think it is his ideal weight. I am not sure if that is enough for him. When feeding before insulin, he does not usually finish 3/4 can of FF. I am trying to feed 1.5-1.75 cans of FF before +6, but I am not consistent. Silvester is not l0sing weight, but based on his current weight, is the calorie intake enough for him?

Thank you.

If the weight he's at is a good weight for him, that looks about right.....there's a starting formula for calories that's [13.6 x ideal weight] + 70 calories per day and for him that'd be 276 calories

As I said though, that's a starting point...if he starts to gain weight on that much, you'd have to reduce..if he starts to lose weight he doesn't need to lose, you'd want to increase.

A lot of us have baby scales like this one and weigh once a week to keep track of our kitties weights

I weight him often, and he does stay at this weight. If using the formula you provided, calories intake is just right. How to know the ideal weight? He was a bit overweight before, and was free fed without calculating calories. Now, his ribs point out a bit, if he lays down on the side.

Thank you Chris.
