Hi Sara.

Sorry no one responded. I was away from the computer having dinner and cleaning up. I see from your SS you shot. I would have probably told you to wait twenty minutes without feeding and test again to see if she was going up or down. Looks like she is going up, so it worked out! :) Of course, that might be a food spike, so you'll have to watch her.

Hi Tricia. Yes I shoot her. First i gave her food-to see if she will eat enough and she did. I gave her canned food (3,5%) instead raw meat (which I gave her every morning). I decided to shot her because i will be at home all day. I have a lot of work to do today and we have bad weather in Slo so she is inside all the time. Right now I am lying next to her and watching film. I will test her again at +3 and if it all be ok i will try to do all my work today.
Its weird with her cycles. Every time when she is on the lowest point at the AMPS or PMPS (and this is almost everytime lately) it seems like insuline ruins it (or food which i must gave her at the same time as insuline)
Tricia if you are still here please tell me how much food Harvey eat through the day. I have been asking this yesterday but noone responded.

You are having a dinner when I first think about breakfast ;)

how much food Harvey eat through the day
Sara, I try to get Harvey to eat at least two of the small cans (they're 2.5-3 ounces here) a day. I would be happier if he ate two and a half.

I have a question for you. I know you want to improve your English. If I notice you have used a word incorrectly, do you want me to explain it to you, or would that offend you? I'm only asking because I know it bothers you that you feel you haven't gotten jobs because of your English (which is actually very good).

If I convert g to ounces, Tačka eats about 9 ounces a day.

Yes please. I know I have a lot of problems with my English. I would like to insert that in every sentence and i forgot how to use times correctly. I should go in to some English course. And I know it is difference when I am writing spontaneously like now or if i try a little more and helps myself with internet and translater.

Nice shooting, especially as you can be home to monitor.
Maybe she'll give you another nice run in blue like the other day or even dip her toes into the Lagoon.

Just grabbing late coffee now, electricians here, this reno is never ending:rolleyes:

You do very well with your written English, but I know that spoken can be more difficult, DH is learning Spanish, he writes and reads, but speaking it is much harder for him, it doesn't help that he is away during the week in Ireland so doesn't get to practice speaking. We have a Spanish friend that is learning English, and they get together for coffee/beer and our friend speaks English and DH Spanish, it's been helping them both.

Regarding food, George gets this every day now that he is off insulin

am thrive chicken 75g (3oz approx)
+3 +6+9 100g of either Ferringa chick and squash/ Granata pet symphonie/ or Terra faelis split equally between the 3 meals
pm thrive chick 75g
+3 +6 +9 100g (4oz)of either Ferringa chick and squash/ Granata pet symphonie/ pr terra faelis split equally between the 3 meals

He used to get the same amount when he was on insulin but the timings were different more like +2 +4 +6 (but that varied with the cycle) I tried not to feed him past +7 to avoid putting the brakes on the insulin and have him come up too much by PS, of course there were days this went out the window and he ended up having lots of extra fuds to stop him from going shark hunting. I'm sure he figured out he got more food if he went low.

George is a big cat ideal weight of 6.75kg (18 pounds) currently weighs 7.5kg so I don't know if the amount I feed him would be too much for Tacka, he is loosing some extra fluff at the moment on these amounts, but that is good, he too is very sedentary so I have to watch his weight, the good thing is that on this wet diet he is much more satisfied than he ever was on dry and is not hounding me for food every instant of the day. :)

Harvey used to weigh about 10.5 lbs, before he got lymphoma. I felt he was a little heavy around the middle then. That was in October, 2014. Fast forward to one year later, and he weighed 8.5 lbs. That's when we figured out something was amiss and started the process that ended with his diagnosis. We got him back up to almost 9lbs, where is is today. I feel like this is a good weight for him, but the oncologist thinks he could gain another half pound (they like their kitties slightly overweight). I'm just happy he's maintained his weight for the past few months!

If Tačka is still 5.9 kg, that's about 13 lbs, so she would need more food to maintain her weight than Harvey would. Do you feel she is overweight, under, or just about right?

How do you know Georges ideal weight? Tačka had 5,9kg when we were last time at vets office. This was at the time she was fighting with the infection and because of that she lost some weight. I just know that her vet says she is fatty and she should lose some weight because of her arthritis. But I am affraid to put her on diet.

but I know that spoken can be more difficult
Exactly. I have huge problems with speaking. My pronunciation is good but i have some blockage I cant go through. I think It would be the best if i would live in England for two weeks and i should use english if I wanna survive ;)

Speaking about language i have another question. For quite some time i have been wondering what DH, DS, DD means? I decided that this is Dear Husband, Dear son, Dear daughter. Am i right?
Just grabbing late coffee now, electricians here, this reno is never ending:rolleyes:
If you live in house work never ends they say. But I imagine you live in dream place. Small stone house, everything green all around you, some farm animals walking around, small barn near by (like in some English movie) :D

You got it!!:D:D:D

Almost, except for the green, we are in southern Spain, surrounded by olive and almond groves and Mediterranean oak forest. Spring is green with lots of wildflowers, but it doesn't last long, not enough rain for that.

How do you know Georges ideal weight?

When we adopted him that is what he weighed, and he was in good shape then muscular but not fluffy.

I dont know because i dont have Libra (is this right? libra is a zodiac sign) but i think she is still aroung 6kg (13lbs). Well she is not skinny but she is not oversized. I agree with vet that she is a little bit fatty. :cat: But so what. She is old. Or is that bad?

I weigh George by holding him jumping on our scales and then weigh myself and subtracting to get Georges weight.
I think some people buy baby scales and use these, probably more accurate, it just depends how closely you need to monitor weight.

You got it!!:D:D:D
Great. I figured out. Jeeeej. So I can use DB istead BF. :D

Nice. Thats even better. Olives and almonds are so tasty and healthy. Lucky you! :joyful:

Dear BoyFriend would be DBF. DB is Dear brother. Sorry, I got caught up watching the kittens on Tinykittens.com!

Anyway, the thing that made me think to ask you about helping you with your English was this:

Yes I shoot her.
and this:
I decided to shot her
Those should be switched. Shoot is present tense : "I decided to shoot her." Shot is past tense: "Yes, I shot her."

I wanted to ask before I pointed it out, as I don't want to embarrass you or anything. :)

Actually, Gill, I am just now about to shut down the PC and head for bed. I got caught up watching the kittens and decided I should check the board really quickly in case anyone wanted me. But you're here so I'm going.

Night!

I saw you asked about setting up a profile for Tacka yesterday. I couldn't remember how I set up Furball's profile, so I asked. Here is the response I got:

Here's a post from 2012: Updated profile instructions.
I'm not sure if they work with Google today.

However, since we moved to this new software, it's not necessary to go through all that hoopla and it's much easier to set up a profile right here... as Libby and Lucy did: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/members/libby-and-lucy.79/. Click on the "Information" tab to view her profile.

To set a profile up like Libby's, hover over your user name in the bar that runs across the top of the page until you get a drop down menu. Select "Personal details". Then scroll down to "About you". Use the message field to tell us about you and your kitty. When you're finished, be sure to click on "Save Changes" at the bottom of the message field.

Voila! Profile created without having to mess around with Google!

Thank you very much Carla. I will try to set it up later. I hope i will not have problems with it.
Those should be switched.
Oh that. I have always asking myself what to put in sentence shot or shoot. Thanks for the explanation but i think i will mess up again ;) sorry for that
DBF is too long. I will stay with BF. Or I can solve the problem with asking my BF to marry me :D. Acctually we are together over 8 years so maybe i can even use DH allready ;)
Did you see that? +5.5 151 She went down a little bit ;)

We had one nice loooong blue cycle today. And at PMPS she is still on solid number for her. We will see what night will bring us. I am angry because i dont know when her nadir is, so when she will be in lower numbers i dont know how i will live. But on other hand i am glad she usually dont have big drops and she like to surf easy. I dont know what anti jinx mean but i think i must say this on that point ;)

You said anti -jinx very appropriately. ;) It means when you say something you want to happen out loud, then you say anti-jinx as a superstition for it to not go the other way.

Don't apologize. English is a complicated language. The vast majority of its native speakers make more mistakes that you do on a daily basis!!! I just thought you might like to know stuff like that.

What a beautiful cycle Tačka had today!!! Don't worry, as she starts doing that more and more you will get more comfortable with it and will learn when safe to leave her ( or go to sleep). Blues are safe and very comfortable numbers to see if you have to go out for a while. Nice work, Tačka

You are a good listener, and a fast learner. You are also doing very nicely supporting other new members. Thanks for being such a great member of our community! :)

How sweet. Thank you. I like to help if i see that there is nobody more experienced behind the screen at the moment. I know i dont have a lot of knowledge jet but i think I know enough if there is someone new in crisis. Later I usually step back

For me every foregin language is hard. I am just not good at languages. But i can say I am really good at Slovenian (I wanted to study it when i was younger). Slovenian language is said to be very hard for foreigners. This is really really funny (you must hear that if you will come to Slovenia):

I only had time to listen to the first one, but I am now terrified about learning your language!!!! In the US, lots of native speakers mess up the grammar all the time. Since your language is so much more complicated, does that happen there, too?

It does. We have a lot of dialects and every dialect has its own rules. Funny. One part of Slovenia near Hungary its called Prekmurje. They have so weird dialect almost nobody from other parts can understand. :D

LOL listened to the first one, this is exactly the problem DH has with Spanish, though I think Slovenian is possibly even more complicated!!
Hehehe I feel sorry for your DH. I dont know if Slovenian is more complicated because i cant speak Spain :D I entered in Spanish course in primary school. But I went there only twice o_O

From what I've just heard Slovenian does seem more complicated. But DH finds the 14 tenses, irregular verbs, masculine feminine and formal informal versions of all to be mind boggling. Still he does really well, it just doesn't come easily for him.
I don't find Spanish difficult, but there again I grew up speaking both English and Spanish (sometimes simultaneously) LOL;)

Nice, you are bilingual from the beginning. This is so good for child. I have niece (daughter of my cousin) who is bilingual (Slo and Italian) and it is so funny to watch her when she translate things in both ways. Her parents speaks both languages (well my cousin is much better in Italian than her DH in Slovenian ;) )

In the US, most children aren't usually taught a foreign language. In High School (ages 14-18) they can choose to learn one, but it is not required. I think it should be. It's so much easier to learn a new language while you are young.

It's so much easier to learn a new language while you are young.
You are absolutely right about that.
We have English in school from first day till the end of schooling. So in primary school, High School and in Faculty. In High school we must study another foreign language (I studied German) for 4 years. Most of Slovenians speak even Croatian Serbian and Bosnian (Which are practically the same). Like others I have no problem with comunication in Croatia. The reason for this is our smallness. Slovenian speak only 2 milions Slovenians and few others (who love one of Slovenians I guess :D )

I don't think she is in any immediate danger.

You could give her a LC snack and set an alarm to get a test later on. (in 3-4hrs)
If you are really tired and need to sleep, then give her some Medium Carb and get some sleep, leaving some food out for her so she can get it if she needs it.

I gave her dinner (Zobaline) at +5. I will set alarm at +7 to see if she will go up or down. I hope i will not overslept the alarm because i am tired (I slept poorly yesterday).

Nice cycle today and tonight! I will look forward to looking at your video posts tomorrow. I am too low energy today to try to aborb them. In my state of PA the first foreign language requirement is in the 7th grade. I probably should say in my school district. Foreign language are very hard for most. Comprehension is hard. Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight , Sara.

Back to the topic of food, Neko was 6.4 kg yesterday. Her vet wants her to maintain her weight, though I would like it a bit less. She gets about 125 g of raw a day and maintains weight on that. She's not very active cause of her arthritis, so needs a little less than a more active cat might. My younger cat weighs about .5 kg less, is more active, and eats about the same amount of food to maintain weight.
