Yesterday

Looks like we're on a lather, rinse, repeat kind of cycle these days, EXCEPT that Harvey has not had tummy meds this morning. He ate all his t/f/s meal, then only had a bite or two of breakfast. I gave him some time, then loaded the gelcap, but before I could grab the pill shooter, I heard him eating. :woot: It took a couple of visits, but he went CPC and is now working on seconds. Yay! 24 hours without tummy meds! :)

Life is a little more complicated around here than usual right now. Sunday night as I was making dinner, the microwave suddenly just shut down. No power, no lights, no vent (it's an over the stove, vent model), etc! We checked the circuit breaker and it was fine, checked the GFI and it was fine. I cleaned out the cabinet above so Mark could get to the outlet and he tried unplugging it and waiting a while, then plugging it back in. Nothing. He tested the outlet, and it has power. So I called for service (it is 8 years old but has an extended warranty). They can't get here till Thursday afternoon!! :arghh: So we are discovering just how much we depend on the darned thing. No reheating leftovers, no Weight Watchers frozen lunches for DH. No warm sock for Harvey's ear. :( I tried using the pill bottle full of warm water, and it really doesn't work for us. He's not a fan of having his ear massaged for a while, either. We didn't have a microwave for the first four years of our marriage and we survived, but we sure are dependant upon it now! Hurry up and get here, Thursday!!!!!!

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug:

Thanks, Chrys. We'll take all the help we can get on that! :joyful:

Go, Harvey!

It's great to hear Harvey is eating on his own. It's awful not to have a microwave. You're right in that you don't realize how much you use it until it quits working. I hope yours can be fixed.

What a bummer on the microwave!! Especially if you were planning on instant oatmeal in the morning!! I don't know how I'd cook anything without a microwave! Other than meat, pretty much everything gets nuked around here! I'm lucky though that I have a freestanding model so if it bites the dust, I can get a new one at WallyWorld for $49

You might try running a washcloth under warm water and putting it in a baggie to use as a warmer...or heck, as hot as it is around there, put the rice sock out in the sunshine for a few minutes! That should warm it up!!

Yeah for the CPC Harvey!! We knew you could do it!!...and look at how well you surf when you eat good!!!

Yo Harvey...nice to have you back on duty wif me today....what kinds of trouble...errr, I mean "activities" should we get into tonight?

I'm glad Harvey is eating on his own and patrolling the lagoon! I'd be lost without a microwave. I didn't have one a few years back and it was okay but frustrating when I just wanted to heat things up. Now that I have it, I use it a lot and I'd be :banghead: without one. Fingers crossed yours can be fixed easily!

I didn't have a microwave for a few years-- then I got one to warm the boys food--HA! like they will touch leftovers:confused:
It warms my coffee nicely:rolleyes:
I love when Rico starts eating just as I am heading toward him with meds:joyful:
Crazy how happy I get when they eat!:bighug:

Glad to hear that Harvey is doing well without his tummy meds. Just think if we had to go back to the old days without all the new gadgets.:nailbiting:

Thanks for the visits, everyone! Harvey's PMPS was much better than his AMPS! Not sure he'll make it to the lagoon, China, but there is still time. He had fun there today.

He ate all his dinner and has about two bites left of the entire can! :) A full day with NO tummy meds (anti-jinx)! :woot:

Yes, I am going crazy without that darned microwave. Since I've been on the Whole 30, I've been buying the frozen vegetables that you steam in the bag. So easy and even I can do it without messing them up! Tonight I had to steam them on the stove. The broccoli was soggy (yuck) and the carrots were ice cold.:( Can we just skip Wednesday and go right to Thursday?

You might try running a washcloth under warm water and putting it in a baggie to use as a warmer.
Actually, I've been trying your trick of filling a small bottle with hot water (it's actually the container the test strips come in - it's watertight!). Not nearly as effective as the sock, but Harvey's ears get so cold between tests that you have to do something.

Today was Day 30 of the challenge, so tomorrow morning I get oatmeal for breakfast!!! Good thing I don't like the instant stuff, anyway! I also get to find out if I've lost any weight and/or inches. Paws crossed!! I need to go back and reread the section of the book that talks about the reintroduction procedure. Don't wanna do it wrong.

Good luck with your weigh/measure in tomorrow Tricia:bighug::bighug:

Good news on not needing tummy meds for 24hrs, long may it last.
Aaargh on the microwave, we keep an old counter top one that we had many moons ago as a back up, it's come in handy more than once.:)

Thanks, Gill.

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2007 (can't believe it was that long ago), we put the old microwave in the bar area and were cooking in there while the kitchen was torn up. When it was done, we kept the old microwave for several weeks before we found it a home, and I thought it was convenient to have two (this was before diabetic cats, too). I have wished several times since we had a back up. No room to keep one, though.
