Can someone help me understand Oliver's emerging pattern? His blood sugar seems to rise after the shot then drops around +6. Sometimes it stays down until the next shot. What am I missing? Is this a bounce pattern?

I thought he might have discovered his brother's dry food which was high on a table. With Oliver's neuropathy he hasn't been jumping up. I put away the dry last night just in case. The odd raise in glucose happened again this morning so I don't think he was accessing the dry food.

He was symptomatic yesterday when his numbers were elevated. Drinking a lot and the litter box was flooded.

Yes, it is possible that he's still bouncing. We always say that kitties bounce ... until they stop. Kitties usually spike a higher BG # in the first two hours after the shot (because of the food eaten), but as for why Oliver has spiked 174 points higher at +3 is anyone's guess. I wouldn't worry about it, Kristen.

Until he is better regulated (and that will happen, it's just not an "instant" thing), you will see excessive peeing and drinking. But the good news is that this was a nice pre-shot # this morning. So let's see what his PMPS # is tonight; as long as you are getting a shootable # at both AMPS & PMPS, I'd say you should try to hold the 1.0U dose until he quits bouncing. (My opinion on this may change, however, depending on what the PMPS # turns out to be tonight.;))

Thanks @Robin&BB. He's been high all day, sigh. Upper 400's by +8. On days when his numbers are good his peeing and drinking have gone back to normal. It's just been these last 2 days where he's had symptoms return. Looks like I definitely made a bad call with the .8 on a 193 this morning.

I was thinking if he's still in the 400's at shot time that I'd go back to 1.2. Do you think that's too high?

As long as you can monitor, I think that would probably be fine; you were getting some decent drops mid-cycle into the blues at that dose before, so it's worth a shot. (Sorry; bad pun, huh?)

Kristen, please don't beat yourself up over that reduction you did; he wasn't quite up to 200 at the time and you're not accustomed to seeing that low a pre-shot number from him - so I totally understand why you made that choice. Not to worry; we'll get him well-regulated before long.:bighug:

Thanks, I do think he will be regulated before too long. These last 2 days just felt like a curveball with this guy.

I'm all about bad puns so shoot away and inject as much humor as you want :p
