Good morning. I think it is safe to shoot the new 13 units.

Hmmm, her numbers have never been this low before, except for yesterday, when they began to charge downwards.
But this looks kind of stable. Hmm. Unless the depot is kicking in for another downward drop. This value was taken after 6 hours of no food. Gonna feed her now and test right before PMPS.

Any ideas , advice are welcome.

Ok Now +11 233. , and she has lost her appetite. It is true, though that she ate well over 3/4 can of Friskies about 4 hours ago.

Not taking any chances, however, since she is licking her chops which she often does if nauseated or feeling dehydrated. Gave her 100 mls lacated ringer solution subq. and 1/2 dose of mirtazapine. . She was sniffling a bit,,, eyes watering slightly. My cats have a herpes virus that they pass about. She could be coming down with it.

Good Morning

Hooot away!

But if you could get a +1 that should give us some indication of what she has planned for the cycle.

+1 lower or same as pmps active cycle continued monitoring needed and feed some to help her surf.

Remember the Depot although drained some after last nights skip could still come into play.

eta yes go with the 13u

Chances are she may be bouncing (going up) after yesterdays run in greens and that +1 will confirm that so then you could go back to bed for while, knowing that she is safe.

If you cant stay awake to get a +1, I would go back to bed for a couple of hours but not leave the next test till any later than +2.

The reasoning for that Kathy is that with all the variables that were discussed yesterday it is hard to predict what she may do. So I am erring on the side of caution.

Thank you. I didn't sleep, but business stuff kept happening.

At +2 280. I s this the bounce from yesterday's lows. If so, what does it mean?

Hi Kathy,
it seems that she may be bouncing from the lows yesterday. That's when a kittys gets into numbers that their bodies are not used to this can result in the liver panicking and dumping glucose and counter regulatory hormones into the system resulting in BG levels rising. The bounce can last up to six cycles, but in some cat's it is shorter, so we will need to watch for signs of her clearing the bounce.

What it means for you today is that you can take a bit of a break :), I would still aim to get another test in today around the +5/+6 mark just to see if she is staying up in the yellows and take it from there.

Great yesterday, Kathy! I hope you will take the time today when she's bouncing to rest. I know you have a lot of babies to care for but remember if you aren't well, you can't care for them.

Sometimes bounces are a blessing. :)

She tends to bounce pretty high.
Absolutely, I'll check.

what you are seeing is likely a combination of the skipped shot and a bounce from yesterday's lows.

How is TiTi today? We like to hear what we call the WCR (whole cat report) since our kitties are more than a BG number. The WCR includes the 5 Ps (peeing, pooping, playing, preening and purring) as well as eating well.

As the cycle plays out today the numbers will become more meaningful.

TiTi is feisty, eating, playing with her track ball, purring like an Indianapolis racer, and enjoying her life. The preening is limited. She keeps up, but is so far behind that I am thinking about giving her a soothing oatmeal bath. Not today, but when things calm down a bit. Thanks for last night, I was pretty worried.

Good report for TiTi, great to hear she is feeling so good.

Since first being diagnosed, the only other time I've ever seen her react to her numbers was yesterday, when she got a bit too languid during her low numbers.

3 Medical emergencies have occurred: constipation so profound that the vet had to anesthetize her, to manually clear her intestinal tract; a second need to clear her intestinal tract that had become so huge that the load of feces pushed her intestines down onto her urethra, disabling her ability to pee; and a huge infection in her left maxilla.

hi kathy - wow, that's a lot she's been through. Are her stools really large? Like child-sized rather than cat sized? Has the vet ever mentioned "mega-colon" to you? This is good information to know. I'm glad you've mentioned it.

Great job handling everything yesterday and last night. She hasn't bounced too high yet, which makes me wonder if she is more used to normal numbers than we would've thought. Some kitties do take their sweet time working up to the peak of a bounce rather than hitting it right away. It'll be interesting to see what TiTi does now. We'll see how long the bounce lasts - I don't think we can be sure of too much from the past.

Her spreadsheet sure looks good now, doesn't it? human glucometers always look less grim than ATs.

Nope, she never mentioned it. Both constipation bouts occurred when TiTi stopped drinkking as much. It may have been due to her getting better, which caused her to stop drinking as much water, and that led to her colon being very "puzzled" by the cessation of gallons of water. I think most micro-organisms react poorly to big changes in the environment of any one of their organs. Course that's just speculation on my part.

Her stools are either a bit mushy, though stil having the shape of stools, or, when she stops drinking a lot of water, they are rock hard, and then do not appear at all.

Yesterday and evening were very tough, and without all of you helping, the outcome would have been unfortunate.

Her spread sheet is much easier to read now. Also I am appreciating the nice numbers. Gotta go test TiTi again.

Flat yellow cycle...often a signal that the next cycle may be an active one...

A 'before bed' test would be a good idea (it's actually always a good idea);)

Kathy you may want to start a new thread for today.
That's an interesting amps, it's quite a bit lower than your before bed test, I am wondering if that number was dropping or if TiTi dropped last night and it's on its way up.
I would get a +1 that ought to give you an idea of what the day might hold.

How you holding up after a days rest?

Too late for a +1, but I can do it now.

I am recovering well, but it took a lot out of me. Gonna be a few days to get back to normal. For TiTi , too I think.

Ok, Got a +4 74, but did not trust it - This contour meter requires a lot of blood, and I had to fill the meter twice, which it supposedly allows, but I figured the 74 was a bad number
The next test, taken immediately was +4 100. Not the greates, but a far cry from 74.

I did start a new thread, just now.
I've spent the morning cleaning up, paying bills and organizing my work space. A few things got neglected while I was working so closely with y'all to keep TiTi from tanking.
