hallo everybody. I will try to keep this as brief as possible. My cat who is just under 16 and a diabetic has stopped eating since yesterday.
It all started a month ago when he suddenly had normal stools but with a blurb of mucus and blood on top. Took him to vet who said it might be an one off and caused by stress colitis. He returned to normal by the next day eating normally and normal bowel movements.
After a couple of weeks he started vomiting for 3-4 days in a row always at 5.00am and he would mostly bring out saliva with a bit of hair. Back to the vet we went who suggested some mild form of IBD. He also started to go off his food at nighttime which I could not understand cause he ate his morning food. He had been on 4 pouches on Felix in jelly per day. Forgot to mention that his diabetes was excellently regulated on Lantus and he was going into remission. The vet prescribed Famoridine once per day. He took it twcice and the vomiting stopped but he was still not eating at night much so I reintroduced 1 can of gourmet gold pate during the night along with 1 pouch of Felix. On Saturday, he had 2 bowel movements and the colour was tan much lighter than usual. I kept an eye on it and on Monday the same thing happened again. I thought to myself it might be the gourmet so I stopped that but by Monday night he started having diarrhea again tan colour. All in all he had 5 bowel movements by Tuesday morning and in the end the diarrhea was a brown liquid with blood. He also vomited 3-4 times again bringing out saliva and hair or just saliva. Took him to the vet first thing Tuesday and they suspected pancreatitis. Gave him bupe injunction and an anti nausea injection and put him on I/D. He had 2.5 cans of that yesterday, no vomit and 2 bouts of diarrhea between midnight and 3.00am. Today we went back to the vet who gave him only a b12 injection (he has been on zobaline for over a year but with the diarrhea he stopped taking his pills - which he only takes if I hide in treats - he is an extremely fussy eater). I also have Bupe injections at home to use as and when. The problem is that today he is refusing to eat almost completely. He still has not vomited at all but had 1 bout of diarrhea but more formed stool and no blood. We also have him a milbemax wormer this pm.
All day he had a tiny bit of food and water with me trying to finger feed him. Have tried many many foods but he doesn't really want any of it. I have ordered FF from the US which I expect to arrive hopefully by Saturday (I am based in the UK) to try and also some others (Tundra, Oh Nom Nom, Macs etc) in the hope that that will make him start eating again. I also ordered fortiflora from Amazon which I also expect to receive in the morning.
His BG numbers in the last couple of days range pre shot from 8 to 10.7 so no problems in that regard at least for now.
In the meantime, I don't know what else to do. If anyone can help out I would be truly grateful. Thank you so much.
