Well, I gave her 1/4 tsp pumpkin with her shot...looks like it has raised her BG. I was sure it raised her before when I tried it, but it's hard to tell when the BG is all over the place anyway. I think it does raise her though. So now what.

You could try slippery elm bark instead. You get pure powder and make it into a gel - 1tsp SEB whipped with cold water (use a fork or a whisk). Bring to a simmer over a low flame stirring constantly and simmer for a minute or two until it thickens slightly. Cool and refrigerate. It will keep for 7-8 days. Give one tsp 10 mins before a meal to minimise diarrhoea. Vyktor takes that easily by syringe as it doesn't taste terrible.

that is 1/2 cup of cold water to the amount of SEB Serryn said. If you give medications with the meal you will need to give the SEB at least 2 hours before or after the medication as the SEB coats the tummy and can stop the absorption of the meds.

I have never found pumpkin to raise the BSL. You can give up to a teaspoon of the pumpkin twice a day.

Julie I think the rise you saw was due to a food hike. I don't think 1/4 tsp of pumpkin would do much at all. For constipation or diarrhea 1 tsp. twice a day.
