5/26 Eleanor AMBG 67 Question

I'm not shooting. At +9 her BG was 97, I meant to keep an eye on it but I am so tired and sick again, I went to sleep.

I'm trying to keep her from dropping lower and to come up. She's going to be full of carbs. Can someone please tell me when her BG finally comes up high enough for me to shoot, how long do I need to wait to be sure it is "safe" to shoot and I am not shooting on a spike? And I reduce back to 3 units? Or were her numbers so high on 3 units because it was too high of a dose?

I'm sorry, I am not functioning at all. I'm really dizzy and there is something wrong with my eye. I have a doctors appointment this afternoon.
I'm trying to figure out what to do, I just can't lose Eleanor but I am feeling so hopeless about all of this right now. I'm not doing her any good at all.
And I simply do not know what I'm doing.

I didn't get this tag for some reason, but I did get your pm.

I think you have great instincts, in spite of feeling so crappy. I agree with you, I would decrease her dose back to 3.0 with her next shot.

Right now if you are feeling really tired like you need to sleep, I would just skip her shot for this morning, feed her normally, and shoot her this evening with 3.0. If you feel like you don't want to wait that long, then I would wait until her blood sugar rises to about 150 and then give her the 3.0. However if you wait and shoot her late, then you have to shoot her later tonight as well.

In other words if you shoot her two hours late this morning, then your shot tonight would also be two hours late. Does that make sense?

I will check in on you when I get off work in about 3.5 hours. Hang in there Julie, I think in spite of feeling yucky, you are doing a super job taking care of Eleanor.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on.

So you think even though she dropped and stayed a lot lower than usual, it's okay to shoot 3 u whenever her BG comes up and stays up without it being a spike, rather than waiting and shooting at the regular PM shot time?
I would rather shoot whenever to try to keep her from going super high, but I'm worried about it because I don't know what she's going to do anymore.

I cancelled my doctor's appointment, if I go I will be too exhausted to take care of Eleanor tonight.

((((Julie)))) I hope you can get a new doctor's appointment without too much trouble.

I think since you're already this late, I'd just skip the morning shot and regroup tonight. If you are uncertain about the 3.0u, you can always give less, say 2.75u. Or you can give a token dose tonight, say 1.0u, and return tomorrow morning with a "new regular dose" of 3.0u or something less, depending on what she does today.

Has she vomited at all today?

No vomit. No diarrhea.
+17.5 100. Definitely a skip now rather than a delay.
I think shooting at the regular time tonight the shed should be empty enough that 3u should be fine. I think. Of course no way to know what Miss Eleanor has planned!

Since you skipped this morning, you can shoot at any time that you want. She's high enough that I wouldn't worry too much about a food spike, unless you fed her high carb for dinner.
