The Classic Pates are definitely safe.

Check the food list at Cat Info in the right hand column of the page for others.

Pate is the way to go. There is a more even digestion of the protein/carbs with that texture. Going with shreds or slices...not every piece is digestion in like time. Ergo, the sugar can fluctuate. Also, not all pates get the same results. My cat cannot eat Sheba products. Her blood sugar goes off the charts. We stick with Friskies or Fancy Feast and all is well. She recently had her annual wellness exam and blood work. The vet could not believe how good her blood work was...how well regulated. However, every animal is unique and most of her schedule will come through trial and error. Good luck from Jane and Stewey

I do think that for the fancy feast flavors, the pates are the best way to go as the shredded are usually higher in carbs, but with canned food it's the carb count and not the texture that affects BG. There's no evidence that the digestion of pate foods vs. shredded foods helps control blood sugar levels. I see no difference in effect on Bandit's BG eating a pate (Wellness) vs. a shredded food (Weruva) with similar carb counts. Foods with added starches (as a many shredded styles may have) may cause higher BG but that is because of the added starch (and subsequent carbs), not texture.

As for Sheba, the pates are all low carb and ok to feed diabetics, but the "cuts" line are higher carb and should be avoided because they will raise BG.
