Rough night for Walter. When he kept going up during his AM cycle, I decided to wait for a third drop below 50 before I give him his reduction (which is what we usually do). By the time he was due for his PM shot, he was acting a bit off and running pretty high. A few hours later, he hacked up a big hairball and then continued to vomit all night. I stayed up with him for a while since he looked so miserable, but he finally went to sleep around 4 am. No more vomit since then.

He has been able to keep his breakfast down (anti-jinxes), so I went ahead and gave him his regular dose. I am sure the higher numbers are making him feel miserable too. I really hope that he is not getting sick and that this was "just" a hairball issue. I'll be home to watch him...

Sorry to hear about all the pukus! Hopefully it was just the hairball and not an illness.
Walter had good numbers yesterday (well, a couple were rather low lol) and he's been recovering quickly from the bounces so hopefully he comes back down for you today.

Ah, poor Walter! You must be exhausted today and hope you'll be able to catch a nap today. I'm putting my money on a combination: hairball causing the numbers to spike and a bounce. Good sign that he kept his breakfast down. Hope he starts coming down soon. :bighug:

Poor Walter and you Christina. Glad you are on summer break and hopefully can get some sleep today. Does he usually get hairballs and did you see hair in the vomit?

Yo Walter,
do you think you had too much Dandelion Hooch at da full moon partee?

No, he's never had a hairball before! But with this crazy weather, I am not surprised. It was cold until about a week ago and now that it is suddenly in the 70s, everyone is shedding like crazy. I just brushed him and got even more hair out of him. Let's hope that this was it. He is doing fine now and is sliding down pretty nicely.

Hm, maybe the hairball was just a cover up for a nasty Dandelion Hooch hangover... I should probably check his phone and see if there are any evidence pictures. ;)

I guess it really was just a combo of a bounce and a hairball-induced BG spike. He's dropping fast... I just gave him a second LC snack at +4 and will check again in a bit to see if I need to bring out some higher carb food to slow him down.

Walter is still dropping! I just added some gravy to his snack and I guess I won't be running any errands this afternoon.

Far enough Walt....what is this crazy cat week? Hope he surfs the rest of the cycle for you and sorry about the "no errands". DH and I now refer to those days as being held hostage.

He's surfing! :D Let's hope that he will continue to stay in the 60s. ...and it's a nice day to sit in the yard and enjoy the sun. The pups are snoozing in the shade and don't mind me staying home at all.

I never imagined that this was the cycle I would get today - but it really turned into a perfect surf with a nice, shootable PMPS. :D But despite everything I said in my original post from this morning, I gave Walter a reduction tonight. He had already dropped below 50 twice on his last dose and he probably would have today without gravy intervention.

Thankfully, no more pukus today... and everyone got a brushing to prevent further hairball issues. Even Mandarin seemed to enjoy his grooming session. :cat:
