Quick dosing help needed

Figaro usually gets 3.5 units of Prozinc BID. His pre AMP numbers have been in the 300s and 400s lately. Couple times 200s. I ended up missing yesterday's morning dose. This morning his preAmp number is 138. It's NEVER been that low. Do I proceed with full dose or not? I won't be around to monitor him until after 6 hours. Not sure if we're actually making progress or I should worry.

Thanks in advance

Yes, skip this AM What about doing two 18 cycles. If you can be at home at what would be the +6 and he is high enough for you to shoot, give the shot. Skip tonight's dose, as it would be too soon to give. Then tomorrow at your regular shot time in the AM give it then if safe to.

Glad you skipped. I hope you can fill in some of your spreadsheet later so we can get an idea of his history of doses and levels. First on the line, date. U= units given. Amps is the number of the test in the am, before food and shot. +1 is a test you might get one hour after the shot. +6 is 6 hours after. Pmps is pm test before shot and food.

Looks like he needs a reduced dose. Good news! Please post tonight with your number.

I will be home at +6 today. Will retest then and see where he is.

I was hoping that was what was going on. His preAMP numbers have been cycling lower and lower in past several weeks. More often in the 300s than higher. I will try to figure out how to do SS this afternoon. When I do finally get it filled out, where should I post it?

We will automatically be able to see it.

You need to "share with anyone with the link" on the RH side. And then "publish to the web" on the LH side. Copy the URL displayed and paste it in your signature on this forum. It will come up, updated, each time you post.

Hi Anne, the reason I suggested the two 18 cycles to you was to get the insulin in Figaro before 24 hours had you waited till PMPS. Since he was too low to shoot this morning and that has never happened before, we will need to see how low the insulin is taking him in the cycle. Any test you can get will be helpful to understand if he needs a reduction in his dose. So, if you could update his SS and enter all the test results you get tonight, it will be another piece of the puzzle.

Ideally with ProZinc you want to be able to shoot two doses 12 hours apart. But without some data on him, it is going to be hard for anyone to know how to guide you. Are you able to get a testtonight between the +4-+7 range tonight which is the typical nadir for most cats. Then we can see how low this dose takes him and we can go from there.

Just put your number in the cel and the color will automatically come on.

So, can you test and shoot 12 hours from this shot?

Giving the usual dose may cause him to drop low again. I am glad you'll be able to test 5-7 hours after the shot you gave.

I'm not sure if the colored ranges are for examples or if the numbers I type should match the colors. Like 422 in red?
Never mind! I just figured out you click on the check mark and it does it automatically. Okay, I think I can get this going now!

If we do an 18 hour cycle that will be in the morning. 12 hours from this shot will be 2am.

My meter records anything over 600 as "HI". Should I put the word "HI" in those spaces since the SS doesn't go over 600?

Thats how to do the 18 hour deal! I was trying to remember that last week lol... I was trying to remember when we were an hour and a half off. Thanks Bobbie :)

now that you've got the spreadsheet started it will help alot to see what he's doing and get him moving towards the right dose :)

Okay, I've got the SS from Jan through end of Match. I've got to stop and do pet chores, and I'm starting to make mistakes. I'll try to finish it and get it posted by tomorrow. Though I will post the evening reading later. Do I have to "save" anything before I close out Google Sheets? It's taken me 2 hours so far, I'd hate to lose all my entries!

Whatever works best for you, I've seen HI on some folks SS's, I use 600+ on mine, personal preference :)

If you hit the check mark it saves it

Edit: it saved, I can see all the way back to January :)

Thanks. I've decided to go with BG>600 to be consistent with SS. I just double checked and it's still there. Phew!
That's probably a good idea in case other meters have a lower reading that starts HI Good job with the SS. I don't have to hit anything to save on mine, it just saves it. But I don't know enough about computer stuff to know that answer for your computer. Sue actually set mine up for me when I first arrived here.:)

So, here are his readings.
5/18 AMPS 138 NO INSULIN
+7 422 GAVE INSULIN (2PM)
+3 425 (5PM)
+5 411 (7PM)
+7 372 (9PM)
5/19 AMPS 458

Should I go ahead with his normal dose this morning (3.5 units)?

Sue had mentioned yesterday that she thought Figaro needed a reduced dose. I am not quite sure what that should be. I am tagging @Sue and Oliver (GA) to see if she can weigh in. Can you finish updated the SS it looks like it stops at 3/23 It's helpful to see it in Spread sheet form.

Can you start a new thread, Anne? Ever time I see the "Quick dosing help needed" I panic a little.....short term memory issues?:joyful:

Great job with the spreadsheet! Now some more midcycle numbers and maybe we can help you figure this puzzle out. Try forAny infections/long term medications? I forgot - what food?

Too much insulin can look like too little. But there are also high dose conditions that require more insulin. More data will help us try to help you and Figaro.

Will you be able to monitor today and get some test in today especially around mid cycle so we can see how low this dose is taking Figaro?

Okay Sue. The message board still has me very confused. I'm more used to FB. When I reply, does it go to main thread? Or am I only replying to one person's question? He badly needs a dental. Vet doesn't want to do until regulated witch of course is a catch 22. No meds. He gets mostly chicken Wellness. And eats some of the other's Friskies pate. No dry. What should I call new thread?

Name it whatever you'd like, date and Figaro's name, or whatever. :)

When you reply to a post, it is within the thread (series of posts under same title).

Another way to find your posts is to hover over your user icon in the upper right corner of the entire webb page, and select your content. this will list, in reverse order, the posts you have made.

I'm on an iPhone, or my iPad. No computer. Is there another way to do that? Can I post something in thread WITHOUT replying to someone's post?

@Marje and Gracie has set up spreadsheets on IPhones/IPads. I bet she'll help. I tagged her so she should reply to this thread.

Yes, you can just reply - just like I am without choosing "reply". The only time you need to use the reply button is when you are responding to something specific someone told you or asked you. Make sense?
Yes, that helps a lot. Marje and Gracie is already helping me with my SS. That's how I got this far!
