Howdy all, I'm perplexed and was hoping for some insight..... I have not been able to get a single reading off of Cooter all day. His AMPS was "HI" on the meter, which is not unusual for him at this point in the game.... but I can usually get a actual for his +1 before i leave for work. It was still "HI", as was his +8 when I came home early today.... same for his PMPS through +3 so far. It's not the meter, I actually picked up a second today (almost dropped the micro yesterday, thought i'd get a spare in case). i tested the new meter on me and it read 114, but I ate just a little bit ago. He ate a 5.5oz can of 8% friskies this morning and a 3oz can of FF 5% with his PMPS.... His prozinc dose was 1u this morning, I upped his evening dose to 1.5u, I've been wanting to up it anyway and today seemed like a good time to do it. I tested for ketones twice, both negative (Thankfully!) and he is acting fine except major thirst again.... Today was the first day off antibiotics he's been taking for 2 weeks, could that raise his BG. The infection in his foot appears to be gone, but we've played this game once before and it was back in less then a week.

Thanks!

Thanks Jayla....just finally got a readable test of 538 at +4..... dont know what he got into today, maybe the dog food?!? Guess I'll start leaving thier bowls out back on the porch just in case... get one more reading before I go to bed and hope for a better start in the morning.

Keep noting ketone tests, dehydration checks, and food and water intake and output on your spreadsheet, along with behavior. Those things improve as you gain control of the glucose. There is less hunger and thirst, so therefore less is eliminated. And with less urination, there is less likelihood of dehydration. And with less fat breakdown due to lack of insulin, there is lower risk of ketones (a by-product of fat breakdown).

I've been trying to keep up with some of that in the remarks column, it gets pretty crowded some days, then others I forget to put anything. I made a new tab on my spreadsheet, notes and observations, that way I don't get rows that are 6" tall. That should help me keep track better, I don't like when the spreadsheet gets wacky looking rows.... a little OCD i guess lol

with the notes--I used to think--"I will remember" LOL-
I know it is hard when you get so busy but sometimes I tell my assistant (that would be my phone) and write it later--
like if poo or no poo-vomit- playful-bright--sad-etc...
I started seeing patterns with numbers with certain behavior --
I have some 6 inch lines

Good idea! would definately make tracking stuff more to the point and easier to fill out. I might just have to steal that from you BJ ;)
