@Chris & China @Elizabeth and Bertie @Marje and Gracie and everyone else who has helped. I thought I would share my own photos of my Lily cat before FDMB (and just over DKA) and now. She has healed and grown exactly as Chris said she would. I wanted to thank you all for reassuring me at the beginning of this but @Chris & China especially for posting before/after photos. Those photos gave me hope, and right enough, there she is!

I'm so happy she's doing so much better!!

I didn't realize at the time I took China's "before" picture how much of an impact it would end up having.

At the time I took it, my thinking was along the lines of "she's not going to be here much longer and I want one last picture"....then we started treatment and she improved so much! We see so many people come here thinking that their kitty doesn't have much time left and are heartbroken

As they say..."a picture is worth 1000 words!"

Hi Lily! Such a beautiful name your kitty have. :cat: I wanna ask you about units. I see she is on Lantus and you lowered dose really quickly. We are going down last days too. We should go down 0.25 units at a time but she is going to low. Did you reducet dose drastically becaouse of hypo?

Hey! thank you, she has a lovely name but it is from blazing saddles!
Firstly, from 18/02-29/02 Lily was at the vet so this is what the vet was giving.
Secondly, I cant really give dosing advice at this point, however, there are a couple of guidelines depending on whether you are on SLGS or TR. I guess Lily and I have fallen under TR and so whenever she drops below 50 she earns an automatic 0.25 u reduction. The links for these protocols are here:
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/lantus-levemir-start-low-go-slow-method-slgs.129446/
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/lantus-levemir-tight-regulation-protocol-tr.1581/

Lily was very brittle when she was first diagnosed meaning she was very insulin sensitive (I think it was her weight, she was very light). Now that she is a bit heavier you can see we are going up the dosing scale.

Unfortunately, I am not as experienced as most people on here, so I guess asking @Gill & George @Judy and Boomer etc on the http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/forums/lantus-glargine-levemir-detemir.9/
Sorry I can't be any more help and good luck!

No problem. i just asked because her ss is a little bit different from the others. I see that Lily is a skinny girl. But she looks such better now. Sweet girl.
We have a little bit different situation. Tač is overweight....trying to deal with that...

Lily was over until she got really poorly. At one point Lily was at 7kg! It is possible :) I'll find a picture of chubby lils at some point and post it.

Of course, how insensitive of me! TBF she is a part NFC and she actually *is* big boned. She was 2kg over.

She still looks lovely at her 'fluffiest' must have been a shock to see her loose weight so rapidly!

BFG is now down to 7.25kg, he was up at 9kg at one point:eek: that was after a friend looked after him for 3 months when my mum was ill and we had to be with her. BFG got an oscar nomination for his performance of a starving cat, he did a good job of convincing her:rolleyes:

He was on Hills dry metabolic for about 4 years and that saw him drop to 8.5 and we just stuck there no movement until his fd diagnosis, he was down to 7.8kg because of the diabetes, then he has been on his wet food diet which I am calorie controlling and he is slowly loosing some fluff and is down to 7.25kg, ideally he should be 6.75kg so not far to go now. He is also 'big boned' no new forrest in him he's more a stocky british shorthair, with his thick coat and chubby cheeks.:):)

Oh wow! What a difference, Becka!
Isn't it fantastic when our kitties start to do the things they used to, and really start enjoying life again. It really is as if we can 'turn back the clock' sometimes. :)

Well done, Becka. You're doing a brilliant job (and I know that Miss Lily hasn't been the easiest.... ;) )

Hugs to you, and chin scritches to Lily, :bighug::bighug::bighug:

George looks beautiful though! :) And yes, they definitely can do 'starving cat' really well, especially to other people! Lily still tries it with me but she gets nowhere. If she has eaten her 4 trays, that is it. Occasionally I renege and give her some poached chicken or salmon.
