Relion Confirm Issues

So I switched to using my Relion Confirm yesterday and have been having a few issues...

First time I used it, I got an error message that was related to the device not being warmed up enough? I keep it in our bedroom in the 60s so not sure why it would say that.

And tonight I just wasted 4 test trips because the error message "E-7" said there wasn't sufficient blood or wasn't collected properly, but it was all times.

I've been testing on his pads to give his ears a break and I can get a pretty significant drop of blood but I don't know why it would be erroring out especially since the Relion Confirm is suppose to read even the smallest sample? I even tried it on myself and it read my blood fine. Finally we gave up and pricked his ear and it read that blood but wouldn't read the blood from his pads. I know the strips are much cheaper than the AT2 but I'd still prefer not to waste them.

Just wondering if anyone else had issues.

Also in addition I might have given Carter a furshot tonight. His PMPS was 471 and at +1 he was down to 431. I'm not sure if I did or not but is it best to just hold off for tonight? I also plan on testing him at +3 or +4 as usual.

Also I put my Lantus order in at Mark's Pharmacy! Should ship out tomorrow!! :D

Just barely touch the blood sample with the "wick" of the strip....it should suck up enough blood to get a good test in

Sometimes if you have too much blood, it'll give an error message

Hmm I didn't think about the possibility of there being too much blood. I think I've been touching it just barely but we'll see, it's said Error with a little sample of blood too so it's confusing.

Just want to note that if you think you might have given a fur shot in the evening, it's not recommended to give another injection of insulin until he's due the following AM. At least that's the way it works with ProZinc. You can never be sure if any of the first injection actually went into kitty. If it did, trying to compensate with more insulin isn't a good idea. You've noted that Carter's BGs have dropped at +1, so it looks like it might have been a successful shot, after all. Good idea to do further testing. Best wishes.

Yeah I'd rather be safe than sorry . :) It went down at +1 and + but not as significantly as it has been with 1 units so I think he might have gotten part but not all of the dose.

If anyone has a second could they take a look at my spreadsheet and see if I need to increase again?

The past day and a half he's been in the 300-400s steady and I went from skipping a dose (due to low BG) to increasing to 0.5, to 1 and then 1.5 tonight. Wondering if I need to back up to 2 units next dose if it's in the 400s again? His +3 tonight only dropped by 100 points so it could still lower by the +5 range but I'm not feeling swell myself so I have to head to bed here in a second.

I know I'll be switching to Lantus here shortly but I'd still like to somewhat regulate this Vetsulin over the next week without risk of hypo.

Looks like he could use more, but since I don't use Vetsulin, I hate taking a stand one way or the other

Generally though, if he's still running in the 400's at pre-shot, I think you could go up

Yeah he was high this morning, I did 2.5 units. Will likely have to back to 3 by PM. I'm going to check here at +1, +3 and +5.
