I feel like I am spinning my wheels and not going anywhere.
Fritz is on Prozinc since March 24th, shortly after his first few injections I did the sliding scale numbers were staying in the 300's some in the high 200's. So with little to no progress I went to the 12 hour 2 dose a day still not moving in the right direction. My fear is Ketoacidosis with the numbers remaining high.
He doesn't have any other health issues with the exception of asthma, treating with flovent 220 x 2 a day.
I have been working with Sue and really appreciate all her guidance. I'm wondering if I am expecting results for just going on insulin, or should his numbers be coming down by now?
When do you decide to try another insulin? I realize there is no magic day, but come on give the poor little guy a break and numbers start dropping......
Would appreciate any guidance and experiences!

I read the pamphlet that came with the Prozinc and it stated black stool and diarrhoea so I'm thinking that is what is causing it. If it continues I am going to take him in to have him checked. He gets so stressed riding in the car and with him just being diagnosed with FD he's even more stressed.

I'd not heard of that side effect of Prozinc before. Have you asked Sue about it? (Just wondering whether the GI issues might be partly driving higher numbers.)

I'm looking at the insert that comes with Prozinc and it states the following additional clinical observations or diagnoses were reported abnormal vocalization, black stool, diarrhea and rapid breathing. and a few others. So I am hoping thats whats causing it.

Deb, since you've only been giving the twice-a-day dose of ProZinc for a relatively short period of time, I think it would be a good idea to continue with it for a while longer, giving it a chance to work as it should. I'm sure @Sue and Oliver (GA) will continue to help guiding you and Fritz in the right direction. Patience is often the key to finding just the right dose.

With regard to the black, smelly diarrhea, perhaps it would be a good idea to touch base with your vet on that. Even though the ProZinc pamphlet mentions black stools and diarrhea, I'm not sure that should be considered normal. I have never experienced that with Hannah, my little ProZinc kitty. As @Critter Mom mentioned, there could be a GI issue contributing to those higher numbers.
