I have a pre-filled syringe of cerenia that is 5 months old. Does anyone know if it would still be good?

Thanks

I buy the bottle as we go thru so much-- I don;t want to give you wrong advice so I will bump--

Thanks Jayla. I rarely use it but may need some, depending on how the day goes so if it is still usable that would be great...if not then I may have to get more.

I text my vet (I tech for him on occasion) and asked him--he said is probably still good...

Thanks so much. My vet takes days to get back to me. I am sure the front office people take their time about passing messages.

So far he is back to eating, but in case that changes then I have something to fall back on. Seeing my guy NOT vacuum up his food is always a red flag.

Thanks again

Thank you so much :)

So far two feedings since he threw up with no repeat. He KNOWS that if he is sick he will end up at the vet so maybe he is trying to avoid that. He hates being put in the carrier and taken away from home. Fingers crossed he continues...it is so strange when he doesn't vacuum his food and then go after his sister's food acting like a famished homeless kitty, which is what started later last night. In 15 1/2 months he has only thrown up once and had mild pancreatic attacks twice, so needless to say, as the doting parent, I stayed up most the night to watch him and then dozed on the couch this morning. No ketones showing at least!!

Sorry to hear that Tuxie's had a GI upset, Mary Ann. :( Fingers and paws crossed that it's just a glitch. Good that ketones are negative.

Sending a prayer that Tux'll be back to eating normally in no time at all. I hope that you'll be able to get a good night's sleep tonight, Momma Bean. :bighug:

Thanks Mogs :)

One night's lost sleep is no problem as long as he gets back to snuff today. You are the one that has gone for weeks on just fumes. Positive energy always being sent to you and Saoirse :bighug:

So much appreciated, Mary Ann. :bighug:

How has Tuxie been doing since this morning?

.

Thanks for asking Mogs

Well I will see if the cerenia is still good. He did eat a bit through the afternoon. His PMPS was very high 33.6. I tested him and let him start eating which was fine, then gave his shot. Then he stopped eating, but I managed to get a bit less than a teaspoon of HC into him. and gave him the cerenia shot. My vet is closed now, but I did manage to talk to the receptionist and get an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. If it gets worse I will take him to the ER.

Poor guy! :(

ETA I gave some SEB as well..hopefully he will keep that down. I hate that his BG is so high. I missed his last pee and I REALLY want to test for ketones.

Aw, Tuxie ... :(

I'm glad to hear he managed to get some food on board this afternoon. I know what you mean about the high BG levels, Mary Ann. :bighug: My heart was in my ankles when I saw those high numbers come back again for Saoirse.

Sorry you missed catching the pee sample for the ketone test. I know that the strips for blood ketone meters are pricey but I'm so glad that I invested in the ketone meter for Saoirse. It has been invaluable over the last few weeks to be able to determine her ketone status quickly and to use the results to guide my efforts to nurse her. I hope that Tuxie will perform again soon so that you can get the test done.

Keeping you both in my prayers. Will keep an eye out for updates from you.

I totally agree with you. Even when Mogs was going through the darkest hours lately with Saoirse, she was still on line giving support and advice to others.

Looking better (anti-jinx) I think the cerenia was still good even though it was older. Between that and the SEB Tuxie has been eating a bit more even if it was HC..food is food. No more upchucks and he actually asked for some more food a little while ago.

Thanks for checking up on us Mogs! :bighug:

Thank you for your concerns. Keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood and mumbling "anti-jinx, anti-jinx" so hopefully those will all help too ;)

You got that right. I just realized that I hadn't eaten since breakfast...I was too focused on how Tuxie was doing. Thank goodness I had some home-made soup already made for a quick supper.
