? Where to post

I got sick of complaining and not acting. It isn't fair that pet owners have spend hundreds of hours calling companies to try to get accurate information on products and isn't fair that our pets have to suffer because of it.

So I am petitioning the government (if you are in the US) to put ME profiles on food packaging. If you aren't in the US this still helps you because you will have access to labeled products. This goes way beyond diabetic Cats, this will help prevent kidney stones, hypothyroidism, and obesity.

A ME profile is the most accurate and simple way for you to decide if a food is good for your pet. It shows the accuarte percentage of calories that come from fat protein and carbs. This petition also is to require companies to provide as fed information at any time. They shouldn't be allowed to not give out this information.

Please help sign and share socially. It's not just for pets with dietary diseases it is to help prevent them as well. Anyone who has a pet should want to know what they are feeding them.

Try posting on FDMB's Facebook page. I'd also suggest posting on thecatsite.com. (I'm not a member there but it's a very good cat health forum.) Another suggestion would be to ask the owners of various specialist cat health support groups on Yahoo and Facebook if you could post the link to the petition there.

Great idea! I signed it too, but am awaiting email confirmation. Guess the server is busy this morning.

What a nightmare trying to understand which food is good for your cat (or dog, or other pet), with carbs "hidden", requiring a calculation. Lemme see, good thing I'm old enough I can't even read the micro print on the labels anymore. At least Hill's has carbohydrates listed on their website.

I was at a pet food store, I asked the clerk if they had "freeze dried shrimp."

"Tell me a brand label, and maybe I can help you."

Fortunately I found a better pet food place where the clerks had a slightly better knowledge of their stock.

Don't forget to share with your friends or on your personal Facebook I have found a lot of support from people I know that I would have never guessed!

I just checked this out.. Unfortunately, MoveOn.org doesn't guarantee a response they are a third party, where the current petition goes through actual government. Thank you for the suggestion!

I posted in a lot of fb groups last night and on the FDMB page. Any suggestions on yahoo health groups? I will do those today!

I'm sure there are others (fairly sure there's a Feline IBD group) but I don't know how to find groups on Yahoo.

Suggestion: change the title of this thread to add a request for members to suggest groups for you to circulate the petition to.

I changed the title from making change to where to post - any help with more places to post to get more support. Its a slow growth right now.. To slow.

Once we hit 150 signatures it will go public so more people can see it.
 
@Scarlett White, I just signed the petition but my signature hasn't shown up, yet. I also posted it on my Facebook page, so am hoping to get some of my friends and family to sign and maybe even share the post.

I keep watching for it to show up, but so far, no joy! I'll check back to see if it happens. And Hannah and I are pleased that you like our screen name. My actual name is Carole, but "Blamethecats" is something I say often, so it fits quite well. :cat:
