Got a call into the vet and waiting to hear back....they can't get her in for a dental until late next week or the week after, and I think I really want to have her checked over first instead of just taking her up the morning of the dental, having them do their "quick" bloodwork they can do there and then doing the dental based on those numbers...of course that adds to the total cost since it adds not only the full bloodwork, but the office visit too

I want a full panel done, but they don't use IDEXX and I really want that new SDMA test done. The receptionist doesn't know if they can send it to IDEXX if I request it or not, so said she'd have to have the vet call

China, there is absolutely no need for you to accompany Cinco and Harvey on their adventures inland!! Someone has to back up Rusty at the lagoon, and it looks like it's up to you, so get moving!

Hopefully, once the dental is done, China's numbers will be making you happy again, Chris.

Neko's vet has an option where the vet tech does the blood draw and you don't have to have the full office visit charge. It does make sense to get the full geri panel done with T4 and SDMA, though they'll probably charge extra to send it to Idexx. Or could you go to another (closer) vet that does use Idexx just for the pre-dental bloodwork? And then send the b/w to the vet doing the dental?

Now THAT'S a great idea!!! Hadn't even thought of that!!

Did hear from the vet (finally)...they don't have a contract with IDEXX, but they can send the blood for just the SDMA out to them and have their regular lab do the rest of the senior blood panel

I hate having to pay the extra, but I'm also thinking that with as wonky as her numbers have gotten (and so quickly) that it might be a good idea to have her get a good "once over" before having the dental instead of just doing the bloodwork...just to make sure there's nothing else going on... so there's no way to get around the office visit charge (even if they did offer the option of having the tech do it)....the bad part is they can't get her in for a checkup until Monday

I agree Chris I would do all the blood before a dental with this pattern... very unlike her ...
If you have a IDEXX near you maybe the vet will let you drop off the blood?? I have done that when I needed it quick-
