What a strange thing to do China!! Couldn't you have just stayed in the lagoon instead of heading up on shore so quickly?? Did somebody chase you out?? You can tell me!!

As expected, Cleo wasn't at all happy about missing out on breffis this morning, but since we weren't sure if she'd have to be sedated to be groomed, it couldn't be helped!

Ends up she did NOT need to be sedated though!! She has really mellowed out in her old age I guess! I'm really happy about it though since I never like to have to do it if it's not absolutely necessary....she's about 12 so she's getting up there

Now that she's home, there's chaos in the house ....she smells like the vet and China and Cheaser aren't big fans.

She's such a strange cat...most of the time she's very standoffish, but after she gets shaved, she becomes a Velcro Kitty...which doesn't sit well with the other 2 since she now wants one of "their" places next to or on mama

Mama only has so much lap space kitties!!

Still pisses me off that they "required" her to be vaccinated....they almost let me take her but then the wife of the vet noticed they hadn't billed me for the shots, so insisted she get them....this was after she'd spent the whole day there too...seems like if it was SO important, they'd require she had them at least 2 weeks before being groomed!!

$35 for the grooming....$55 for unnecessary vaccines:mad::banghead:

I hope China heads back to the lagoon soon. I'm glad Cleo didn't need to be sedated. How crazy they made you get the shots.

Chris try to find a groomer in your area--
At my shop I do cats on Sundays or after the dogs are gone so it is quite and I do NOT require vaccines.... Ask around..... we are all word of mouth as any groomer you want probably will be--I also have the owner stay (only with cats) they are usually better and if they do get satanic it is good the owner knows I am not making things up because "Fluffy" is so sweet at home :stop:

I'd LOVE to...but living in the middle of nowhere (this town only has about 1000 residents) there's just not much choice...the few groomers around work at the vets offices or only do droolers

I keep looking though and hoping I'll find someone who will either do it in their home or aren't so anal about the vaccinations

some vets (in the very shady city if Chicago) will agree to not vaccinate as long as you pay for the vaccines:eek::confused:

I've considered trying to shave her myself, but not having any training in it and being by myself always makes me reconsider...I'd hate to shave off something important.....LOL

If you do want to try--pm me and I can help you with blade size for what areas etc... also if you need a clipper or blades I can get them to you at wholesale -- I probably have a clipper I don't use anymore I can send your way....in fact you could borrow the blades rather than purchase them--they are around 20-30$ you will need 2 lengths. (a 7F and a 10)

I think China just went back on the beach for a quick look to see if Harvey and Cinco were coming - we're several hours behind you, you know. She went back into the water as soon as they showed up! Thanks for keeping them in the lagoon so long, China! Harvey is going to take a test to see if he can be a Deputy, too! He's very nervous.

Bummer about the vaccinations. I can understand their requiring them, for the good of the other animals they treat, but you'd think they could make an exception if you're a long-time client and they know how careful you are of your kitties' health. My vet will not vaccinate any of my cats anymore, because they have had cancer and she said it's not worth it.

Still waiting to see the photos of Miss Cleo's new 'do!

Sounds like an eventful day. Good to see Deputy China in the lagoon this morning. The LagoonMeister was checking out the deep end, in preparation for Harvey's Deputy exam.

Have a good evening, Chris,

How often are they saying vaccines are needed? They last at least three years and perhaps longer. If suggesting sooner I'd look for a new vet.
