After diagnosis Jan 5th of this year 2016, we moved from KD kidney to Wellness moist and DM. She primarily eats Wellness moist. She was acting strange so we decided to do bloodwork tonight...Her red and white cell count is good, phosphorus is normal, Bun was elevated at 47 and Creatinine was at 2.7. This was about her same levels back in 2013. So, when I was treating her many months for elevated kidney levels, the bloodwork on Jan 5th 2016 showed normal kidney levels across the board but her sugar was at 499...she was put on VEtsulin and recently about 2.5 weeks ago was showing normal BG levels without insulin, so we removed her and she has done well on her own....YAY....but...., about a few weeks later her kidney levels returned slightly elevated from 2 years ago...Vet said today she was going to contact a nutritionist to determine what food we can give...At this point, id say put her on Royal Canin Kidney or KD and test and give Prozinc to keep the carb levels and BG lower...I don't know what else to do to get her back. There has got to be a balance.

Depending on what stage of renal disease she has, you may be able to feed an over the counter, low carb AND low phosphorus food.
Check the food list at www.CatInfo.org for the phosphorus levels and go for the lower ones.
See also Tanya's web site at www.FelineCRF.org for tons of CRF info.

Thanks BJM, appreciate that. Yes, looking for high quality protein food and low Phos. DM may not be best to give as the protein quality may be in question.
