Back to SLGS Doodle's decided he wants to stay and see his friends. Thanks to all who visited his condo yesterday with kind words.

The boy is in good spirits and sits by the water fountain watching the steady stream. We call it the new "Doodle TV". One difference already is that he did not immediately go to sleep after dinner or yet this morning. This had been his routine along with hiccups most days. We made few trips to the garage last night (oh boy, a monster has been created!). He has a loud demanding but pathetic sounding "bark" as we call it so who can resist :cat:

So the garage is his "playground"? Boomer likes the basement and our basement door is normally kept closed because Allen is fed on the other side of the basement door and we know what happens when DH accidentally leaves Allen's food down and Boomer has a snack :rolleyes: . So occasionally I will let Boomer into the basement as he does like to sing down there but generally I try to discourage him!
 
Glad to see you. Cats always want to go where they aren't allowed. We stopped letting Smokey in the basement because he wets all over the floor. Can't get it out of the cement. Now he has trouble climbing the 13 steps to get back up.
 
I missed the end-of-day drama in your condo yesterday and just read it! I'm glad you decided to keep posting. Nothing works for everyone, cat or person. And given that starving is not an option, nor is utter misery, you did what you have to do.

I hope you will keep posting as much as you feel you want to. My only thought is--and this is my thought, so feel free to ignore it--I might put "Special circumstances" or something similar before the YAZC food thing indoor siggy, just so newcomers here or to your condo don't get the idea that it is a general option. But I'm glad he's eating and feeling perky. And the fountain thing--hilarious. He looks to me like he is awaiting a signal from the mother ship!

I didn't say it wasn't. I just think with newcomers, this is all a little confusing. They may not read for all the details and get confused so I always say err on the side of clarity. But it is entirely up to Karen, of course. Just my thoughts on the matter.

True, it can be a big confusing to newcomers, but at the same time feeding dry is one of the reasons people "have" to follow SLGS instead of TR, since dry is not permitted when following TR. While it doesn't hurt to provide more info in our signatures, the criteria is outlined in the stickies. If someone doesseem confused about things like YAZC, directinig new members there can help answer their questons and give them the full picture of the TR protocol VS the SLGS method.

A little of both. When I got him he was quite wobbly. Also FD out of control. I found out about zobaline here and started one tab a day in October. It has helped. He also isn't use to stairs anymore. I have a ranch house. My fathers house had 5 steps but last time I took him there he had trouble climbing the 5 that was in august. I'm sure age is a factor. I increased the zobaline to twice a day this month.
 
The numbers are looking good, but, more importantly, he's probably happy to have his favorite food back. And he has a new water fountain - what more could a cat want.

Gave it to Doodles twice a day too. He was in real bad shape and didn't catch onto the diabetes until the neuropathy set it. Saddest thing ever. Wasn't until end of Nov. (6 months) that all of a sudden he made a dramatic improvement. During that time I'd put him up on low furniture and give a little less support getting down each time in effort to build muscle. Anyway, hope the B-12 helps Smokey!
 
Glad he is happy. Maybe he is just a little confused about being free fed again. My babes watch me fix their food, right in my way. So many toes get stepped on. Sometimes Tux jumps on the counter ' to help'.
