Doodles 1/17 Pretty good cycle for Doodles yesterday and thank you to all who provided their input about increasing or holding this dose. We're going to hold and see how he does. I didn't get up @ PM+8.5 for his late night snack :( . Vet visit this afternoon for acupuncture and oral exam. Hoping he doesn't need a cleaning or extractions. Will be curious to see what the vet says about his weight loss. This vet was thrilled about his 16/15oz weight while the other one would say that his optimal weight is 15lbs.

Hope everyone has a good Monday and extra vines for Marje's Tobey and Wendy's Neko & Theo as well as for all others in need.

Good start for Doodles; he should visit the lagoon shortly!
Have you thought about getting an auto feeder so Doodles could have a snack and you wouldn't have to get up?

I woke up, saw him sleeping peacefully in his bed was pretty tired (did lots of yard work) so just went back to sleep....bad mommy! He won't eat unless I'm with him...DH tried to give him his PM meal (so he can start helping )....Doodles looked at him like he was crazy and wouldn't touch dinner until I sat with him :( I just have to get up but also don't expect to be perfect o_O

Sending good vetty vines! ...and I know exactly what you mean about the not getting up part. I have had nights where I wake up in the morning and have to actually count the empty cat food cans to see if I got up to feed or not. If I am tired enough, there's a 50/50 chance that I will wake up enough to roll out of bed and crack open a can of food or that I will just roll over and go back to sleep.

Last night around Boomer's +6 he started calling me again; I figured it would be a repeat of the previous night. But I called him and he came back to bed. DH picked up his dishes this morning and told me there was a bit left in his +6.
Did you know there is a dish that has a recording device in it....you can leave a message for your baby! Perhaps if Doodles heard your voice calling him to the dish, that would be enough and you wouldn't actually have to get up?

Doodles came asking for food. Tried 3 different cans of wet - no go...ended up giving him 1/2 tbsp. YA @ +2.5. If he wants food, he gets it regardless of my feeding schedule preferences :cat:

Nice start for Doodles and looks like lagoon day for sure. Funny about he won't eat unless you are with him. He must be a "social " eater. I am feeling remiss as I don't feed my guys in the middle of the night. There last snack is at 8:30- 9PM depending on when I go to bed. Should I be feeding through the night?

Should I be feeding through the night
I never did until a few days ago. In hind site there's been a couple of evenings lately that he was howling around 2am/3am and wondering if he was wanting food and I ignored him. We're flying by the seat of our pants most days so I'm the last one to give advise

I make hockey pucks for Radar to eat in the night as it's really hard for me to get up and then be able to go back to sleep. I got silicon muffin trays and I mix the catfood with a little water to make a pancake batter like consistency. Sometimes Radar will "help" with the process and all 12 don't make it to the freezer. :cat: It takes a few hours for them to freeze so if life is crazy I can make them at dinner time and still have them available for that nights snack.

Such pretty numbers for Doodles, however I really pity you being on the hot seat for his eating only with you like that. It's like nursing!

Will he heat when you AND your husband are around? If so, could you try being there but having your husband get into the mix. Or even substituting some object, like a large stuffed animal, to be there with you while he eats? I'm not trying to say you are replaceable with a stuffed animal in any general sense. ;) I just wonder if this is a habitual thing only, maybe you could transfer the habit to Teddy Ruxpin or something. LOL!

DH will have to keep trying as he's realizing the toll it's been taking one me. Doodles has always been mama's boy and brought him home from a rescue at 3 months old right before DH left for a 8 week bomb school training. He's always been skiddish with other people (although much better). Ever since DX and we had to go to feeding schedules and working on this wet food issues all these months it's become the norm. Not sure the guy will ever eat on his own. Even before DX he liked me to pet him while eating and ate much less when I was away traveling for work. I feel bad for him.

I think you are really nice to do this for him. When my little kidney dog was having a bad day, he would only eat if I sat on the floor, put my face down on a level with his and hand him little bits of mush to lick from my fingers. I'd be lying if I said it was fun, but you love them so much at those moments and in a really twisted and odd way, you know you are being honored.

Nice start for Doodles, and sending tons of vetty vines for today! I'm in the same boat with feedings....Trix needs me to hold the plate for her for the bulk of her calorie consumption. She'll eat some for DH, but not nearly as much as she'll eat for me. I feed her every couple hours this way, up until about midnight...and then the process starts over again at about 6:00am. The things we do for love...

I rescheduled the vet for next week. He's acting crazy aka, running around, has the feed schedule "off" and don't want to stress him out today. He's my love bug, always has been therefore I'll do anything for him. When he was really sick, he'd only eat from my hand (we had to go back to only kibble for a bit) so things have improved with him eating from the bowl!

We love to spoil them don't we. They are just like having a baby. Getting up in the middle of the night to feed and if their sick sitting up with them. Yup, their our babies.

That +4 62 sort of affirms your decision to hold the dose!

Poor little Doodles. Needs some mamalove at meal time. Actually, kind of sweet. Annoying at time, too, I suppose.

Polly takes a few bites right after I feed, but she doesn't dig in until I leave the room. Glass doors let me peek to make sure she's eating, but if I go in the room, she stops. Cats!

Thought I saw his fur a little wet at PMPS....did he get a FS or is he just having another unexplainable cycle. We'll see what tomorrow looks like.
