+7 and she is at 4.4 / 79. She hasn't had any HC for an hour now, so I'm pleased that she's starting to rise slightly on her own.

I'm heading out to work now, so am leaving this thread open for Darryn to post in if he needs any help. Even if he doesn't post here, he will still update the spreadsheet.

Ivana's spreadsheet looks beautiful, so much green! If it weren't for the constipation and vomiting, I would be doing a happy dance... but I don't think this would have happened on a 'normal' day.

Food-wise, today she has kept down almost 1 full tin of HC, split over lots of feedings (not counting the LC and MC stuff she's chucked up). She still hasn't pooped though, apparently she hasn't left the lounge all afternoon.

Sooooo, what should we do at shot time in 1hr? She's currently at a shootable number, but that may change in an hour. At the moment our shoot number is 4.4 / 80. Given she hasn't pooped yet and she's feeling unwell as it is, what should we do re the shot? I guess we should see if she eats something at PMPS time, but I don't want to leave it that late to ask for help incase no-one is on at that time. If we shoot, do we decrease her dose? Even though she went low today, it wasn't 'earned' as it was from the vomiting, and she will more than likely bounce tonight I think. Oh and yes we have plenty of HC, honey and strips for tonight.

PMPS and she's 6.3 / 113. As long as she eats, I'm going to shoot. If I don't get any suggestions on dose before then, I'm going to reduce to 1.5u just to be on the safe side.

If she's above 80 and you have plenty of strips, HC food and can test as much as necessarily tonight I'd plan on shooting the 1.75 that's scheduled, BUT if you can't stay up or don't have all the supplies, you could give a BCS shot and leave it at that

Thanks Chris. What's a BCS shot? Problem now is that she doesn't want to eat dinner. I've put out two different flavours for her, and she's not interested in either of them. If I shoot and she goes low again, I'm worried that she won't eat any HC food to bring her back up again. Ergh!

Big Chicken S**t Shot....giving a lower dose than scheduled so you can hopefully get some sleep, or go out for dinner, or whatever you want to be doing OTHER THAN poking the cat all night ......then on the next shot you go back up to where you'd been getting good numbers

The caveat about giving a BCS shot is that even if you reduce, her depot is still in play so there's no guarantee that she won't drop too low even on the lower dose

Ha! I like that. To be honest, I'm leaning towards a BCS shot, or even skipping, given that she doesn't want to eat. Especially if the depot is still going to be giving out, as you say. Whyyyyy can't she be an easy patient???

Tara, I know you are beside yourself!! It sucks when they don't feel good and won't eat…. hungry thoughts coming to Ivana…
I am a BIG CS!! --

Ivana NEVER not eats. As you can see from the size of her, she loves her food, so this is a huge indicator that she's not feeling herself. Yeah CS here right now too!

You might want to go with a BCS of 1U...that's a pretty drastic reduction from the 1.75 she'd been on

Then get a +1 and +2 to see if you need to intervene early to keep her from going too low, too quickly

Keep in mind that vets usually suggest 1/2 a dose if kitty is going under anesthesia without eating, so you are usually OK with that size dose. However, the depot may keeps busy the first part of the cycle.

Sending lots of appy vines.

Ok 1u it is... she's not interested in the LC food I put out, do you think I should also try MC or HC? I know it's not ideal, but at least she'll have something in her tummy.

Update: Ivana still won't touch the two flavours of LC I put out at dinner time, but she just had about 1/4 pouch of MC... apparently the gravy ones are like cat crack. Mind you, I had to put it in a human bowl, take it to Her Majesty laying on the lounge, and hold the bowl at the correct angle so that she didn't have to lift her head too much to lick it.

Not. Spoilt. At. All.

o_O

+3 and still rising. She's currently nibbling at the mashed pumpkin, she's eaten maybe a few teaspoons worth so far. C'mon poop!!

thinking of sweet Ivana (and stressed Tara) :)
I have 9 plates of food out now and Dre is snubbing them--I understand :(
thank goodness for freeze dried chicken!
Come on Ivana.pooooooooohhhhhhhh!!

More poop vines from me. Max gets 1/8 teaspoon of miralax every day once I saw him not going every day. It takes a few days to work though as it's quite gentle. Here's a site to check out once Ivana is feeling better and you can consentrate to read.
