Max started talking about 20 minutes before tfs so I suspected he was still low and I was right. I tested about 10 minutes early. I heard him drinking before that. @Bron and Sheba, Water is good for kidney disease as they need to stay hydrated. I add water to his food so before the diagnosis there was no need for him to drink. He is drinking more and peeing more now. So that is why I suspect something is up. As long as he can keep himself hydrated it's okay. Thanks for visiting last night @suki & crystal , @Bron and Sheba, @Doodles & Sour Pea, @Tricia & Cinco & Harvey, @Anne & Hyde, @Wendy&Neko.

Vines and prayers to all in need with the usual extras. Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve and happy new year to all who are ahead of us in the U.S.

Max hasn't needed fluids so far but that could change. Being diabetic I can't feed him the lower phosphorus foods that he used to eat and would help a lot.

I am currently giving my sugar boy fluids as well -- it was odd as he had normal range KI values when diagnosed-and literally 1 week later they were elevated-I started with 1x a day (he is a big boy about 19 pounds he has lost about 1.5 since diagnosed we are dieting) He seemed to do better with 2x a day and less as he would get bloated-
I had blood work done about a week or so ago and his values have come down although his BUN is slightly elevated. I think we have a good balance now and back to 1x a day as his diabetes is getting more controlled. I am hoping he won't always need them daily by if he does we will figure it out--the diabetes has been a whole new ballgame for me! Thankfully the rest of his blood looks good ;)
Happy New Year!!

Max! You are a man of mystery. In a delightful way, of course. Vines for your boy, Elise. Always, even when the little man doesn't seem to need them!

Vines, too, for you and your mom. Wow. 95! I hope she has a good day. Lots of birthday wishes from here.

Well if we throw out that food spike number, Max is having a GREAT cycle!! (even with leaving it, it's been a pretty darn good cycle!)

My cats are drinking more too lately...I hadn't thought about the idea of the heat being on...I guess anything is possible!

Sending vines for "whatever" is going on with Max and best wishes to your mom for a wonderful birthday tomorrow!!

Happy New Year Elise!!

Hi Elise. Happy New Year.
Have you tried the Weruva brand of canned cat food. They have a lot of choice that is suitable for diabetic and CRD cats. Cats in the kitchen, trueluxe and Weruva all have good choices. They have full info on carbs and phosphorus on their site. Here is the link

Another thing I do every day to reduce the phosphorus count is I give Sheba a mashed egg white cooked ....half in the am and half in the pm. If you mash it finely, and mix with food, hopefully it won't be noticed. Sheba eats it willingly.
She had her blood tests recently and her kidney values have not changed in a year (anti jinx).

Turned into a pretty good day for Mr. Max!

Happy new year to all of you.
Thanks Julie. Same to you and your family.

I have tried Paw Lickin Chicken which he eats only if famished. Many of the others are fish which I try to avoid.
Thanks for visiting all. Happy new year.
