Mocha aka Cold Play

Member Since 2015
Hoping to see her come down in about 3 days worth of the old increase. So hard to get her consistent. But, only 4 months in, is not that long. Seeing urine on the carpet again. Goes away when she is feeling better.

Gave her the anxiety relief drop in her food and that was swallowed! She seems more mellow since, as her spike would normally have her staring me down and screaming for food and popping her fellow feline. No smacking today. Will be consistent with it because everything needs consistency in life.

Our move was just pushed back another week due to all the repairs. Sad to be moving in January but don't want to live in construction zone and the stranger noise and work noise would be very hard on two relocated cats. So, it is better to take longer and only have boxes to deal with and not dirt and noise. El Nino stick around. Can't move in snow very well.

Morning :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Come on down Mocha. I so remember those days: when Mannie as way up there, surfin' in the clouds, looking for the stratosphere.;)

Good luck with the move, and sorry for the delay. I am with you though, no fun to move when things aren't ready. I am sure too that the kitties thank you.

Enjoy your day today.

Hey Mocha, Smokey will keep you company. Yep another 3 days of high before he decides which direction he's gonna go.

That's too bad about the move, but probably a good decision in the long run. Moving is stressful enough for a kitty without adding is strangers banging on the walls. I hope you see some better numbers. The clouds look a lot better from below than above!

I agree, when I hear sanders and banging, I want to hide in a closet too!

Smokey I think found an all you can eat diner in the clouds, he only wants to eat for last 3 hrs.
Well, any food he has, he better keep it in his pockets because the Mocha is a hound for sniffing out a crumb of kibble. She does not share well. Hope Smokey comes back down to eat with a good appetite. How much is Smokey weighing?

He got his chute on and is heading down. I guess that's why he's so hungry. He's bouncing between 16-17 lbs on my scale. It's a borrowed scale and extremely touchy.

The vet scale reads about 1 lb lighter. So when he's 17 on my scale he looks good. The 16 is to light for him.

I need to get a baby scale.

Waiting for the depot to refuel.....hoping the past pattern will return. The end of the 3rd day brought dips....so wearing the trying to be patient pants!

Fingers crossed this dose will move him!

Have we asked about his teeth/gum situation? Does he have any tartar build-up, any red gums or really bad breath? It's common for diabetic cats to have yucky teeth and sometimes if teeth are bad they can really drive up blood sugar.

I believe that is how she got it because the vet was unable to address it and I took her elsewhere and got them cleaned beautifully. I am keeping an eye on that. the cleaning was a few months back.

You know you wouldn't need to be so patient if you were doing TR ;)
I am not familiar with the other protocol. Not to say that I will not change over.

I did not believe I had the necessary testing to do it. I have had at least one comment that I am fine with the testing to use TR. Plus, she has only extremely low carb wet food. So, that makes me open to it. I do have chronic health issues myself, and my husband has a traumatic brain injury and chronic pain also and no family around. We are trying to move in a few weeks and deal with a property renovation on the other location. I am "tapped." Actually, I am running "empty." Within a month, we should be unpacked and less stress with home stuff (I hope), but still a property to sell. Anyhow, all that not to complain but I need to clear my head and right now I can barely lift it.

@Chris & China @Grayson & Lu @julie & punkin (ga) @Jill & Alex (GA) @Sienne and Gabby @Wendy&Neko .....Is the test data in favor of TR to get possible remission or to get better control than SLGS? I want to give her every opportunity for remission within the first year. She only developed it in August 2015. So, I believe your point is a very good one and I appreciate it. If I can swing getting familiar with TR before then, will go! Without being very familiar with TR, can you look @ her response to the insulin changes? I think she is later in the cycle to benefit from a dose and that could pose a problem of always changing beyond what she will respond to with low greens and overshooting. I think that was my main concern initially that the chance of her hitting really low would be more common. I appreciate valued expertise.

Right now, I have at least 20-30 boxes yet to pack under the gun and I am beyond exhausted. I need Peter Pan to unpack them or I Dream of Jeannie! I just want my girls to be played with once we get over there and us all enjoy!

TR could help flatten her out and gives you the ability to hold doses longer since you don't reduce until 50 and you can adjust the dose sooner rather than waiting the 7 days. You do test enough but may need to test more on some days depending on what she's doing. I would not change to TR until you are moved . St.art reading the TR Sticky and absorbing the info. You'll also in time have to be comfortable shooting any number above 50.......but can certainly work your way to that :)

Vyktors Mum, Julie & Pumkin and Wendy & Neko are best to guide you. As you can see from Doodles spreadsheet since we switched to TR how much better he is doing:D:D

Sorry, I can't find the notation to when you switched. Can you tell me the date?

Since shooting an 81 already due to my stupidity, I saw her spike upward. So, I do have that advantage of comfort shooting low. I am more concerned with the dips from a higher number, which has gotten her in the 50's.

I think waiting til over there is a good idea. VOTE 1=TR

I do have an advantage of being homebound. I could test around the clock almost always, if need be. I imagine that is a problem for others. Thanks! Awaiting more votes.....:);):cat::cool::D:joyful::rolleyes::smuggrin::stop:

I was in between SLGS & TR since Mid Nov. because we were still working on eliminating the dry YAZC and making sure the complete switch to wet was going to stick. So lets say right around 12/5 we put the stake in the ground, pulled the dry (started giving him only a few kibble as a treat after test).

That is good evidence!

Not that I know anything, but even a few pieces of kibble apparently can spike. I was giving a few here and there over a day and was told to remove it by even my vet, who is not understanding the insulin protocols and panics.

I hope we all can find a reasonably priced treat that they LOVE and is not harmful to glucose. I have not.....so she has only her wet low carb. A few times, she snuck to get the other kitties dry before I got it up high.

I have dry kibble for 2nd kitty on high counter that Mocha can't get. But, due to the social nature of eating with cats, the 2nd cat won't eat away from Mocha unless she is super hungry.

I may try to set up a different arrangement @ the new house. But, hard because I need Mocha to eat on a table that I can use for her testing and there is no room to set that near a counter (or she would be on the counter too!). Can't solve it really but get my brain to be by Latte and when she vacates or Mocha comes to move it! I panicked with the Relief Remedy lid loose/broken and forgot Latte was still eating. I went back and I believe Mocha just started but she got a few bites. She will work for food!
