Aww, Carol - Nobody here is ever going to give up on you & Murphy - don't even worry about that! (And we all know what a great trooper Sue is, of course. And brilliant, too.;))

of course, my sisters in frustration - Bobbie and Sharon
Well, if it's any consolation, Carol ... Bat-Bat can still find ways to frustrate me. She just pulled the ol' scarf & barf trick out of her little black hat this morning, right after she finished her meal. (My fault, though - I was so excited about her AMPS # that I neglected to pull her dish for her halfway-point food rest; then - whoops! - up it all came. My bad.:banghead:)

I just got some of his blood work back from yesterday - the vet thought he was somewhat dehydrated so she gave him fluids - his blood work showed that his BUN was elevated (a marker of dehydration) I don't know if that was from his apparent pancreatitis or switch to dry foods. He actually seems a little dehydrated to me again tonight - I may give him some SQ fluids - ugh After he stabilizes, I may try him on a low fat, low carb wet food. Oh, my poor little boy.

thanks everyone - I just hope I can find a low fat, low carb he can tolerate. but that will have to wait awhile In the meantime, he hasn't been high for two straight days in a while But talking about people who go above and beyond - that 's our Bobbie here and Sharon as well

Ahhh you guys, we all go above and beyond for our sugar babies. All of us beans want our babies to feel better. My hat goes off to all those you are trying to get control of the FD and work full time jobs! Those are the peeps who go above and beyond. I don't know how they do it.

PS And to those said peeps who work full time jobs then go to the boards to help the rest of us.:bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss::bighug:

I just gave Murphy 200 cc of Lactated Ringers - I was terrified he'd really act up, but he was meek as a lamb. I'll know better next time he has an episode to check for dehydration
I remember watching those emergency hospital shows (can't think of the name right now) and when ever the ambulance would reach the victim and the team would call the hospital for support, they always said the same thing: "start ringers lactate"

Bobbie - what are your plans for Bubba? More R in the future?

I am very familiar with wasting strips - sometimes I have no idea why I am not getting a reading
Does anyone know where Cindi (@Merlin) or Robin (@Robin&BB ) have been? Hope all is okay

Hi all - Thanks for asking about us. Sorry I have not been around. A couple of things have been going on so I have not been checking in. One, I have increased my work hours during the day. Fortunately, I am only 15 minutes from home, so I can run home to test Merlin or leave later in the am so I can get a mid-morning test. I have also been working a few times at night too but am on call so I don't know when I will be called out. Last night, I got called out to rescue a Red Tail Hawk. It had a broken wing and it looks like someone shot it. So sad and I don't understand why. The other thing is that my dear father in law is having surgery this morning. A couple of months ago, he had heart bypass and is doing great. Today he gets his pace maker replaced. Thirdly, in the last 7-10 days, Merlin has not been doing well. I noticed he was losing weight and took him to the vet two days ago. His CKD has progressed and his phosphorous level is very high. I have been giving him phosphorous binders but it wasn't enough. The vet increased his dose from 100mg to 400mg daily. Bless his heart, his demeanor is the same but seems to sleep a lot more and even though he is eating, he isn't eating as much as he usually does. So it has been hard seeing him (kidneys) not doing as well as he has been, and knowing that it isn't going to get any better but worse.

So I really appreciate you all asking.

Hi Cindi - thanks for checking in - sorry for all that is going on and sorry to hear about Merlin - I've gone through CKD a few times, and it's so not easy we're with you for support - just holler

Ouch. I'm so very sorry that you & Merlin are dealing with a rough CKD episode, Cindi. Special scritches to sweet Merlin. And for you, dear girl: :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
