I do not see how entropion can cause diabetes. However, entropion can be inherited and maybe diabetics is also inherited so some degree.
What meds were used after the surgery?
What were and now now feeding?

I was thinking the diabetes causes the entropion.vets were stunned on how it showed up out of the blue so far into age and her weight always stayed the same.they thought maybe an allergy caused it to come up but not sure.diabetes causes so much so was wondering about that.she was on pain meds aspirin if all things!!erythromycin ointment corneal repair drops, plasma drops made from dogs blood lol

Also some allergy pills.i started feeding purina healthy weight diet food and it seems her problems started around that time.switched to something better simply nourish dry 9live ff and her sugar dropped a lot but looking for a better dry food.

Back when the entropion started I had her sugar tested and it was a tad high but vet thought it was from stress of vet visit.but I'm wondering if her diabetes was creeping up even then and caused the entropion or maybe the food caused everything.

It doesn't sound like the entropion on caused the diabetes or vice versa. Could be the meds for entropion helped raise her BG but who knows. Glad her eyes are better now and hopefully her BG will be under control soon.

You can look for cheap Lantus on the Supply Closet on this forum. There are some people selling pens right now for a good price. The Lantus pens are good because you can use them to the last drop. Unlike the vials, which will lose effectiveness before you can use them up. The pens will last for several months if you keep them in the fridge. You can also look for supplies on Craigslist.

Stress can cause elevated BGs so it is possible the entropion contributed to the development of the diabetes, but I can't really see how diabetes would have led to an entropion eye. Entropion is a physical, genetic problem with the eyelid. Food and another medical condition like diabetes shouldn't affect it in any way. If any steroids were prescribed for the eye to reduce inflammation, that could have tipped the scales on the diabetes.

Vets were really baffled on it showing up so late in her life and stuff.thought maybe diabetes might have had a hand in it cause diabetes can cause blindness and many other problems.she didn't receive any steroids.hmmm never thought that the entropion stress could of caused her diabetes.she was under a lot of stress and pain.she almost lost her eye sight.i went to 3 different vets to get one to do something to help besides creams and sending her home.the hair rubbed 2-3 layers or her cornea off.

That's awful! Poor Miss Kitty! I have a friend who's dog had entropion and the surgery to fix it, but his eye was never the same again, he had to be on drops 3x daily for the rest of his life and had some permanent blindness in that eye. Glad Miss Kitty's outcome was better! :)

She has some slight scarring on her eyes but can hardly see it.i had her 3rd eyelid tacked over her eyes for 2 weeks to help heal her eyes up.she did great not being able to see.then I got the surgery done after that.vet did really good job.i put moisture drops in her eyes daily now.she hates the drops more than her bg tests and shot lol.here is one of her eye tack pic.looks creepy.

Yes, that is a little creepy, lol. So she had it in both eyes? That's even worse! My friend's dog only had it in one eye, luckily for her.
