Hi everyone,

I just received data from Performatrin today - the nutritionist provided all the data easily. The original spreadsheet has been converted, but also has additional nutrient values not included on my spreadsheet.

There are some nice low carb varieties available and, thinking economy, some of them come in larger cans.

There are some decently low phosphorous varieties as well.

I'm adding more mfrs as I get the data. It's going to be my legacy and my thanks for everything I have received here.
 
You are amazing! Thank you:) ... Now if only the cheaper companies could make low carb lower phosphorus food.... hmmmm

It is so nice to have choices other than just fancy feast :)
 
You're very welcome! My cats are eating me out of house and home so I am motivated to find some economical options. The PC Extra Meaty foods - can't wait to get the data on those. They have them priced so oddly, at least in the store I shop at. The small cans are the same as the Fancy Feast - between 75 to 79 cents for an 85 g can. But the medium sized ones are 89 cents for 156 g. Ten cents more for nearly double? I did find that the different sizes actually have different formulations so I'm hesitant to feed any varieties beyond what data I have but stay tuned!
 
I know- Between the food and the test strips it is just insane! We have to get Trouble weighed at some point- because right now we give him as much as he want.. he was so skinny- but he looks good now and don't want him to get too heavy.. Limiting his food to what he needs should help us a little :)

So weird about the pricing- That so doesn't make sense~ For us we also get the FF in a box set- but it is all fish- so will be really nice to try some of the PC brands if the big ones work out- in some non fishy flavours!!

The Weruva is great! But it adds up... When you think about it though- Its not that much more than FF.. I think I pay $2 for 170 grams... Still it all adds up!!
But what can you do?!? It does help that Trouble's response has been so good to the insulin and the food. We just took him down to .25u... hoping it will hold- Who would have ever thought when he was first diagnosed:) SO thankful to this forum!
 
Think of it in terms of the metal and can construction cost in ratio to the food cost. The food:can ratio is tighter for smaller cans.

Ha! I actually have a PetValu near me! I never knew it was part of a big chain, it's the only one I've ever seen. I will have to look for the Performatrin if it's any cheaper than FF. My cats eat a lot of food!!!
 
Thank you, Melanie for you time and effort, a good legacy. Am also looking for my legacy and how to say thank you for all the help I have received as well.

Hey Lucy, I saw that the big cans (which your crew could certainly use!) are $2.69 for 374g or about 72 cents per gram while the FF in the 85 g cans is (for me) anywhere between 60 to 75 cents or anywhere from 70 to 88 cents a gram. A better buy. The PC foods are even cheaper - hopefully I can get all the values soon.

....and I just remembered you're not Canadian! Sorry about that - don't think you can get the President's Choice (PC) foods. But for sure the Performatrin can be found at PetValu. Dr. Dave from PetValu also shared some more foods that are "diabetic friendly" through their chain. I was really impressed with his knowledge. I'll post those other foods when I get a chance but they seem to be duplications from info that can easily be found elsewhere (and the more $$$ varieties).
