Tricia, his appy is fine (anti-jinx). He just needs to be awakened to eat. I wish I knew why he is so sleepy. I know cats sleep a lot and even more as they age but this seems excessive!

If China isn't eating, she's sleeping too Elise

Every once in a great while, she'll do something different, but mostly it's just eat, sleep (and of course an occasional snuggle with mama)

Nice cycle today Max, but it's really not nice making your bean crawl under the bed to get you!! I guess I'm lucky that China's favorite sleeping spot is in the corner next to the couch so no crawling, dragging or pulling is involved!!

Thanks for sharing that. Max will be, gulp, 18 sometime this month and I keep think the slowing down is a decline in his health. It still might be. He also sleeps on my bed and his cat bed lots of the time. When that happens I hate to wake him for tests.

Fuzzy, the foster, not only sleeps most of the time, but he sleeps so deeply it sometimes scares me. I'll call his name. Nothing. Louder, nothing. I'll poke at him. Nothing! I really have to sort of jostle him about to wake him. I'm used to it now, but gads, he gave me some anxiety in the first month or so he was here.

Funny, though, if I open the front door (used only when we're going for a walkabout in the front of the house) or the refrigerator door, Mr. Can-You-Hear-Me-Now is almost supernaturally transported to the spot of his fixation!

Nice steady cycle for Max today. Keep it up, Max.

Vines, Elise.

Funny how cats have selective hearing.......Sheba sleeps soundly with kids running around the house..loud music....loud voices and she doesn't stir. But if I unzip her monitor or break open the test strip her head comes up!
Sounds like Max is being a cat!

Callie was 19 and she slept a lot and she slept very deeply. There were times I thought she wasn't breathing. I think older kitties just need more sleep.

I'm glad Max surfed safely for you.

yeah it's absolutely amazing how they can sleep through anything....except when we're trying to very quietly open a can of cat food on the other side of the house with 2 doors closed between you and the cat....LOL

Thanks for visiting Marikyn, Bron, Carla, Chris, and Tricia. Max used to have selective hearing as well but would often come when called. When he used to join me on the sofa at night while I watched tv, he would run when the phone rang. Now it doesn't bother him. Then he seemed to sleep very soundly within the last year. I think his hearing was going. The last few months I think he has become totally deaf.

He still comes in to head butt me much of the time when I measure his insulin. He meows when he sees me to say hi and is a purr ball and follows bugs at times. I guess he's doing okay for a geriatric.

When you snap near Max's ear, he doesn't react then? I am pretty sure Tiger's hearing went off toward the end too. but it was funny because when Otto went off, she would always bolt and run if she was in the kitchen.

Sending vines and prayers for you and your mom and Max Elise, I've been offline, but hoping things are going a little better for her. I hope you don't have to throw your back out dragging Max out from under the bed, I am now recovering from a back injury and i thought about you. vines and hugs! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Ruth. Sorry you are having back trouble. I've gotten much better about how I lift Max most of the time.

When I first suspected Max might be deaf I changed my mind and decided he was just in a deep sleep. He seemed to hear some. Now not at all.

I was thinking I needed to write to see how you and tge kittens are doing. Any progress? Feel better.
