We love, love LOVE our new vet!!! He's fine with home testing and running curves at home, he's good with Squallie's diet and, with all that I have been doing. Wow, what a difference from the old vet! He gave Squallie a thorough exam and put my mind at ease about a few other issues that had been worrying me, as well.

He tells me what he is doing (or what he would do, in a given circumstance) and explains the "whys and wherefores," which I really appreciate. And he recognizes that I'm not an idiot, and that I know what I'm talking about. Never once did he talk down to me or treat me like I was clueless about about my cat and how to help him.

We liked him so much that my baby Bengal girl has an appointment to see him on Saturday! Looks like we have a new vet, for sure! So happy, and relieved! :joyful::joyful::joyful:

Congratulations!!!

We can really "hear" the relief and excitement in your "voice" too!!

Isn't it wonderful to not be treated like an idiot??

Gives us hope that there really are a few good guys out there!!

Lucy, I'm so glad for you (and for Squallie and the rest of your furry friends!). Did he put your mind at ease about the fact that Squallie hasn't been purring?

Shane

Very happy for you. I kind of 'deal' with my vet for the most part. Did you guys discuss an insulin change or are you gonna keep going with the vetsulin?

Wonderful! All of this is difficult enough without having someone fighting you every step of the way. I'm so lucky to have had a really good vet right from the start, and I'm so very happy for you and Squallie! Yeah, kind of wondering about the insulin, staying the course or changing?

You know, I forgot to even ask about the purring! How stupid of me! However, I got a little bit of a purr out of him last night, so fingers crossed. And the new vet says he will be happy to talk to me on the phone about any issues, since we're so far away.

We're going to stay with the Vetsulin for now, but he also uses PZI so that's always an option. I think he wants to have a chance to go over Squallie's spreadsheet and records before making any changes. Like all vets Squall has seen, he couldn't believe how old Squallie is, says he's in wonderful shape for a cat his age! Made me feel very good! So much for the old vet telling me I'm killing him, lol!

We're happy, too, just delighted! What a difference, like night and day!

For now we're sticking with the Vetsulin, I think the vet wants a chance to look over all Squall's info and spreadsheet before changing anything. But I have no doubt he will change his insulin if we ask.

That sounds like a good plan.
