Two of mine have had Convenia shots. It was all before I knew about it. We had no reactions. I'm not saying it's a safe shot, but it isn't like an automatic terrible thing. It's still good to avoid if you can, though.

Thanks Rachel. Each and everyone who has posted that makes me feel better and better.

Hi Sharon, I have put a link here for you to look at. I wish I had had my Bubba folder with me at the vets and then I would have seen that I made a note that is was potentially dangerous. We have two cats and two dogs and if I have to stall for Bubba the whole gang gets delayed so I know what you mean about the hungry eyes. I don't have horses but, I do have a barn I could escape to also. HA! Also, for pain killer Metcam is potentially dangerous.

make that metacam for the pain reliever

Thanks Cindi. Do you use it everyday, or just as needed?

Yes, for a while, I used it everyday. After about a couple of weeks, then I dropped to once a day for a few days and then none. This was early on and then I had to give it to him a few more times for a few more weeks and then stopped giving it to him. Right now, he is not taking it but I have it just in case. So hopefully, it is just a temporary thing.
