Thelma & Sinbad

Sinbad is doing amazing!! Playing like a kitten and a new milestone over the weekend, rather than alerting us by pawing at the couch or bed to pick him up and place him there, he jumped up by himself!! He has not been able to accomplish this in over 4 months (God is so good). He is eating so healthy (thankfully to the wonderful advice given here of purchasing an auto feeder) he has balanced meals. He will sit at the auto feeder everyday approximately 8 minutes before the containers open . My boy loves to eat! And, he no longer stands to be taunted by my little Mia, which she took advantage of this when he was sick and less mobile - he now playfully chases her when she taunts him. So cute.

Only slight concern I have - his numbers stay between 60 and 65 consistently. Is this a good number for him? He is completely insulin free (OTJ).:cat:

Those are terrific numbers! When CJ went OTJ, I was worried they were too low till others here reassured me how good those numbers were!

It's amazing how quickly cats can bounce back! CJ used to have so much difficult walking that I thought she'd never walk again. Now she charges past me like a crazy tiger to chase after Bonnie and jumps up in high places like on top of bookcases.

BJM's glucometer guide is useful. It tells you what the normal range is for a cat off insulin: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oI_34_EgqeKdpyttFW0oLoG1mbw16IkATAWHhoQD2JU/pub

Sinbad is pictured with his sister (they are litter mates), Chloe. Nina and Mia were actually my son's cats, but I have had them for almost 9 years! lol

Thank you so much - that it is helpful. Of course, I worry - lol. It's so amazing to see the transformation. I was readily prepared to take care of a sick kitty - after all - he gave so much to my life for 11 1/2 years and we love him so much! There was a time we were carrying him to the litter box because the walk was too stressful and tiring for him.

Welling up after reading this ...

Sinbad is blessed you're his mom.

:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you, but I think I'm the one that is blessed. Sinbad changed my perspective of how animals are treated. My son and I "adopted" he and Chloe from a breeder. When we got there, it changed my entire outlook on breeders. Their mama spent her entire life in a cage being bred litter after litter. Sinbad and Chloe were being raised in the cage with their mama along with another sister. We wanted all three, but the breeder wanted too much money. Needless to say when we got in the car, the cats came out of their carriers into freedom. Not the safest thing to do having babies climb on your head while you're driving, but they needed the freedom. I'm so against breeding and animal cruelty (not that was for it before) more now than ever because of my two babies. :-)

Welling up again ... :(

Sharing my life with my cats has completely transformed my world view as well. My opinion of humans as a species didn't fare so well (the greedy and the powerful, in the main - wish kinder, gentler people ran the planet) ... :(

Pets reward us more than we can ever imagine. Stories like yours make my day.
